Yeah; another name more commonly used is stage 1. Stage 1 is usually just an exhaust and maybe a freer flowing intake filter. Stage 2 is the same with a different tune but may also involve a performance cam upgrade. This what most people do to slap the EPA out of an engine to wake up the potential of that particular engine. Stage 3 might be all that and a larger bore and pistons. Far less people go this route as it's much more involved but you know what they say; there's no replacement for displacement. Not really true anymore with turbo's and superchargers but the idea is the same.
