Thinking I am going to go with the Hacker Rippers in black. I have two questions....

Is anyone using them with a passenger seat? Want to make sure that they're not in the way of the pegs etc.

What would you folks recommend for tuning? I see quite a few arguments on this but it seems that they are all pre-08 bikes.

I have a 2011 Vegas and have tried both the VFC-III and a PC V. A point of discussion that commonly comes up is that the VFC-III can be tuned without a dyno while the PC V MUST be tuned on a dyno. This is not the whole story in my opinion. The VFC-III can be tuned without a dyno IF you have a good sense of what a good tune feels like and a fair understanding of fuel conditions (rich vs lean). Otherwise, access to someone with success with VFC-III's is key.

For the PC V, I found the situation less black and white than I was being told. My PC V was installed by my dealer. I also asked that they install an autotune module. They dynoed the bike and gave it back to me. Here's the shade of gray. My best tune by far didn't come from the dyno and it didn't come from the autotune. It came from a fuel map that a guy with my same mods sent me. I tweeked it with the autotune just a bit but it is superior in feel across all RPM than the dynoed tune. I can't say how widely this applies but I would have been better off with a PC V and without a dyno since I just undid the dyno values anyway.

If you are confident in your ability to tune with the butt dyno, or have access to an AFR meter, a VFC-III should work. If you can spend some extra cash and want to be sure what your AFR is (and extend your rev-limit) a PC V and autotune works best in my opinion.
Regardless, if you have mods I think adding a fuel controller of some type is a must have.

Thanks so much for the reply. While looking at the Hacker pipes, they also have a fuel control module (Victory Anger Management Module). When buying the pipes along with it, it is only $140.00.

As for the AFR, I have found a friend that has a wide-band I can borrow. Knowing this, have you heard anything about Hacker's module?

This module seems to be very similar to the VFC and the Wiseco Fuel Management Controller (see pics). I'm not sure of the rules about posting a link so just search for that module...same button lay-out precisely. I've been told that the VFC is NOT a Wiseco but I'm not sure about the Hacker module. I hadn't heard of that particular module but seems to be based on a well traveled design.

If you get one ask that they recommend a good set of base settings and write them down somewhere before you make any adjustments so you will have a fall back. Also, make sure the pipes you buy have a bung to accept the wideband sensor and plugs to seal it up after removing the sensor. Never-seez the plugs so you can get them out in case you make another mod and need to retune.

With the VFC an Idle Air Valve (IAV) is recommended to help adjust out deceleration pop. The module you are considering claims to take care of that through the settings....I'm am very skeptical of that being the case but worst case you can add a IAV if needed later...they're about $75.

Hard to pass up the savings they are offering, especially with access to tuning aids.

I might have missed it but do you have an intake mod built into this project?

I'm on the fence in regards to the intake setup that I want. I am taking the bike to a larger Victory dealer in the area today to talk everything over. Over the phone, they were recommending Lloydz setup.

They also said they had dealt with Hacker before and weren't happy with their quality.... so everything might be do-over.

After talking to the owner, ended up with an S&S intake, RPW Slash exhaust, and DynoJet's Power Commander V with AutoTune.

Any opinions on this setup? Just paid a pretty penny

Extremely wise! Congratulations!!
Fool proof and fail safe setup with a lot of experience behind it. Getting this tuned in will be way less hassle and the improvement is solid.

In my opinion, everyone of these is better choice than the previous components.

If you want to raise your rev limit in the PC V, ask the installer to ensure there are values up to the 6500 RPM line and turn on the rev-extend feature (the feature is grayed out unless there values). A typical map may stop earlier like around the 5000 line. Below is a fuel map example. You can see this if you hook up a computer to the USB port on the PC V.

Thanks! The guy seems to know what he's talking about (he's been a Vic dealer since 1995). If you talk to me about the LSx platform in GMs, I can feed you more info than you can handle. This motor is brand new to me

Sounds like the perfect setup ChiTown. Where did you get the work done? Carol Stream Victory? Or Randy's?
Work done? My garage. I'm new to working on bikes but this could be done by a few girl scouts.

If ya need help wrenching, bring your bike by.

So ChiTown, now that you've had a chance to put a few miles on your new setup, any feedback? Happy with your Slash pipes?
Love em! Right now, the bike is down until I can find this intake leak (mods in signature). Hopefully will track it down tonight and get rid of this super-rich condition I am having.
