So I just bought a new 2013 boardwalk a week or two ago and I'm now due for the 500 mile service. Today is Saturday and I start vacation tomorrow. My service date is on Wednesday. Since it is such beautiful weather for a Pennsylvania October, I really want to hop on the bike and go ride. But I don't want to put too many miles over 500 on the bike without changing the oil and any other maintenance issues. My question is, is there any thing else other than the engine oil that needs to be refilled or replaced or whatever during the 500 mile service? I don't want to put a bunch more miles on the bike when things need to be attended to but at the same time, I don't want to sit at home for 3 beautiful days on my vacation and not ride my new bike!

If it is just the oil that needs to be replaced right away I can do that and put everything else off til Wednesday. I'm just above 500 miles now and if I ride the way I want to, I may hit anywhere between 700-900 miles total by Wednesday.

Change your oil and ride it , will not hurt anything. I did mine myself , never been back to dealer and I just turned 6,000 miles with ZERO problems. I checked all my nuts and bolts myself , and just didn't feel like forking 260.00 to my dealer when I could do the work myself. Enjoy your weekend and ride safe!cheers

There is more but you should be fine waiting. I had 700 on mine and others were told to wait until 1000 miles.

There is a list in the owners manual that has everything that's done. They also say they measure the compression and record it in Victory's database.

Call your dealer and tell him what's happening. If you do your own oil change, log it somewhere (I write service notes in my owners manual) and save receipts. Have a nice ride you lucky stiff. We're getting more rainy days here than dry ones now.

At couple of options could be to:

1. ride it up to about 800 miles before the first service but notify your dealer if they agree with that first.

2. Buy the 4.5 oil change kit ($60) from your dealer. That logs you into their system as buying the required oil needed. Enjoy your nice ride and change the oil upon your return when it's up to temperature.

My dealer did my 500 mile service on my CCT and I've then changed my own oil using the 4.5 quart kit every 2500 miles since. The dealer has a record and the dates of my oil purchases. That record keeps me well into the black when it comes to scheduled maintenance. Yes, I know the manual says every 5000 miles. I've just been using the 2500 mile interval on cars and motorcycles for so many years with such excellent results I see no reason to change.

Yeah....what he said. Change the oil, check for too much excess deflection on the drive belt....and ride. I have over 10k on my CCT, and have not taken it back for service. I did my first oil change at 400, then about every 4k after that. Those are going to be the things they do for your first service....oil, belt check/adjustment. The oil change is super simple.....15 minute job. The belt adjustment isn't hard to do either. You do need a jack though. Then it's just a matter of making sure all the bolts stay tight. It is beautiful in our part of the country this weekend. Enjoy your ride.

I've decided just to do the oil change today and go ride later. I might do the belt inspection myself and tighten everything I can later or just take it to the dealer. Not sure yet. Thanks guys for the advice.
