I've been going thru all the pictures of Cross Countries and spotted yours. I notice there some with two antennas. Does that mean it has a CB and is that factory or aftermarket?

Another thing I'm noticing is few have crash guards for the saddlebags. Are they not really needed and is that factory or aftermarket as well?

And finally I'm noticing two different styles of engine guards. Is that because of a different model or because of different year? Some have what to me looks like a Vision guard while others are the normal tube type. I'm guess there's a difference between Cross Country and Cross Country Tour but not sure if model year plays a roll as well.

Viccowboy,

The CC in 12 came with the forged bars and starting in 13 they came with the round engine guards. When i bought my 12 cross roads I had a choice of forged or round engine guards. My brother has the forged on his 12 cc and likes a great deal.

The Saddle bage rails for the cc bags is something you can add, if you buy the victory hard bage protectors I believe they run around $275.00. my other brother has a 13 cc and doesn't have the bag guards.

Kinda your choice. Ride Safe.

As far as I know the CB's are aftermarket and that is what the second antenna is for.

Saddlebag bars are an addon from Victory. A police version is available but they are cost prohibitive at $700 or something crazy like that.

Yeah. They originally came with the 'forged' crash bars. The wide ones. Then in 12 they came out with the XCT (tour) that needed the round crash bars to hold the Victory lowers on. The XC maintained the forged bars. Some of them might have had the round bars. After that they started moving toward the round bars on all XC's as well as XCT's.

All of the above is correct. Additionally, the Cross Country TOUR model (all model years 2012-2016) comes with saddlebag guard rails.

Guess I'll have to ask yet another question then about CB's and the what and how of them. Playing catch up is such a drag.:frown

My last bike had hard bags and no crash protection, a low speed fall resulted in both bags and rear fender damage as the low bag got pushed into the fender and the fender took out the other bag.

I have had to test the crash protection on my XCT in a drop and sustained no damage past a scuff on the bag guard.

Is it worth the extra money, that is up to you, unless you have a XCT then it is stock. A few hundred dollars is worth not killing my bags to me. I wouldn't spend what they ask on the police bars though, that is nuts.
