Yesterday I was out for a ride on my ZX14 and passed our local Vic dealer in NE CT, parked out front was the fuel it truck. I entered and asked the owner if I could ride the XC and he said Tuesday and Wed were the days when people could ride the factory bikes. I turned to him and said, "I'll be back" ok so I stoke a line from the movies.

Today the weather was perfect, I hopped on my 09 Hammer S and headed out to the dealer. Upon arriving at the dealer there were a handful of other people walking around the 2010 and 2011 Victory motorcycles.

I signed my life away and headed out, this was a first time ever testing out a group of bikes. We were told to hop on any bike we wanted and we would go out in group and take a leisurely ride through the back roads of CT.

My eyes scanned the group of bikes and focused on the white XC parked in front. With my Shoei RF 1100 and Vanson jacket in place, my leg was tossed over the bike. My first impression..wow its a low seat..I like it. Next lets get the tunes on a local country station, adjust the mirrors and we are ready to go!

Their were eight of us in the group and we headed out down the road and with in a half a mile turned off onto the back roads. The lead rider was the Fuel It truck driver, he was on a XR. While my normal riding is kept with in the speed limits this ride broke every limit short of the open roads of Montana.

I kept up with the leader and my impressions were the XC while was large compared to my Hammer S, well...it shrank in the twisties. The balence and turn in was fantastic. It was very hard to believe we were doing 70-90 on back twisties (I know, I know...deer, down branches, leafs all of the roads and turns...believe me its not my normal way of riding even with my zx14...quite frankly it was rather stupid and irresponsible) Now that I have beaten my self, there is no need for anyone else to comment.....

What amazed me was how easy the bike was to ride fast, it was so well balenced, had ample power and exhibited a very neutral handling with no bad points that stood out or reared their head at any time.

Two areas that did stand out was that I was getting quite a bit of wind buffeting. I had thought the small screen would push the wind over my head but it hit me right in the face (I am 6'1"). The second and only other possible negative was the lack of a heal,toe shifter. I am guessing you cant install one due to the fact it would obstruct the running boards full range of function.

Aside from these minor points the XC may be the most perfect bike ever built

Heal/Toe Shifter - If Victory made that a standard, half the riders would complain about having a heal shifter instead of toe only. So they made it standard with just toe shifter, and for a measly $100 you can add the heal shifter. It's a wise setup from my point of view.

Wind Buffeting - This is a known issue, but fortunately (as others have reported) it can easily be fixed with lowers and perhaps a taller shield - Not Victory's fault you grew taller than the average folk! :)

I have greatly enjoyed your post with its story-like qualities. I have my Fuel It Demo this coming weekend, so it was an extra special read for me. Thanks for sharing.

Some like the heel shifter some do not.

I do not like heel shifters. That's the first thing that comes off

I added a 4+ inch flip windscreen with the Victory lowers. Solved all the buffeting. My wife is happy now to.

I also enjoyed reading your review dance 1 dance 1
