I have a '99 V92c, and recently developed a wobble from the rear end... I have checked the tire pressure and it was a little low so I topped them off at 38 front, 44 back (PSI). Still has the shimmy.

Id like to check the rear wheel alignment next, can I do this without the special tool called for in the service manual? If so how?

Trying to check the simple things first; alignment, belt tension, then bearings. If I'm missing something please chime in.

IMHO you'd be better off taking it to a shop. You might have broken a steel belt in the tire, or it might actually just be out of alignment, but either way you have to ask yourself if it's worth saving a couple bucks by doing it in your garage? I took my bike in this spring for tires, and they found 2 critical safety issues that I had missed... just sayin
