I threw the ATS in earlier in the week as I couldn't wait to feel the change. Already had filter, PC-V and the like installed. Friday I had some drop in cams installed and until the upper RPMs, no change. I do have the stage 1 mufflers installed (for now) but there is more torque and HP to be had in the mid range with a muffler upgrade. My peak numbers rounded off are 106/106. Will scan and post dyno sheet later. A bit surprised a free flowing muffler under performed so much. I guess the 1.75" diameter is a bit too small.

ATS works only up to 2500 or 68mph.
I would think you would have to change your timing on your PCV to feel any benafits of the ATS.
Yes the ATS make a lot of diffrence and adds to mileage

See and this is what I am afraid of, it does not appear he had much of a difference.

I am gonna hate riding 1000 miles to get the touring cams, PCV and tune to add to my Big Honkers, lloyda air filter and ATS if I don't notice some friggin difference...LOL I won't mind the ride but every other aspect would suk....I guess in about 4 weeks i will know for certain.

Thanks for the update and your feelings on it.

From the install sheet supplied by Lloydz, bullet point 5 states:

"Caution! when used with the PCV you must be aware that there will be a total timing change.

Ex. If you advance the PTS/ATS 4° and have 4° advance on the PVC map then there will be a total of 8° advance. THIS IS NOT GOOD AND MAY CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE."


Goes on to say you should retard the PVC map to get the correct timing above 2500.....But I am sure everyone that has a wheel has read the instructions.....


This mean that the wheel sets the base timing ahead. Whether you are above or below 2500 makes no difference.

Here's Lloydz' "Timing is Everything" you've mentioned:
"We developed the PTS (precision timing wheel) for mainly increasing the bottom end power under 2500 rpms but found that it will increase power Across the board. Also I'm told from Scott at Conquest Customs that he sells the timing wheel to eliminate all the backfiring from his Ground Pounders witch are short pipes known for backfiring.

We've also discovered that the power will increae even more over having a power commander installed do to the PTS ability to also change the injector timing with the ignition timing. So whats my tip? Every bike will benefit from the installation of a PTS. The only thing you have to time is making sure you order yours when there available because they go fast."

Don't get me wrong, the cams are going to make a difference but in my situation, the stage 1 mufflers are holding them back in the most usable RPM range for me, around 2700 to 4K or so. Atom Bombs were recommended and since the bike that was being dyno'd when I got there had a set on, I know what I'll be getting. Sound bites and video's have never failed to fail me.

The timing wheel works ALL THE WAY THROUGH!!!! Ihave posted this many times, where the confusion comes from is the pcv is said to work from 2500 and up so the wheel is there to adjust below. But the wheel works all the way through unlike the pcv.

On my XCT the timing wheel made a nice difference. The sound of the exhaust changed the exhaust note was very crisp the back firing went away. It was a completely different animal.... On the back roads.....

At 6 deg all was great until I hit the hwy and the bike pinged its ass off..... I don't have the fuel controller with timing. Mine just controls fuel. By Turning it up to max for mid to high range I could control the ping ...
But the gas mileage was real bad......

So I am now at 4 deg. The bike feels and sounds soft. The exhaust note is back to its lazy sound not crisp.

So here is what I have...
The bikes computer does NOT set the timing far enough advanced for low speed riding. But does set it about perfect for hwy riding.

This means if I set the timing wheel where it works best for running back roads it pings like a bastard on the hwy......

With the timing advanced to 6 deg the idle sounds better its doesn't miss it's very pronounced Vtwin sound....

So I don't know how you guys could add even more timing with your fuel controllers on top of what ever you have with the timing wheel....
This really sucks....

What octane gas do you run? I run 91 no ethanol and run my wheel at 8° with no ping.

I run premium but our crappy government doesn't test to see what we are getting.
My bike doesn't ping with regular gas ... Before the wheel that is...

So I really don't know what I get.
We don't have ethanol yet.. That I know of...

I could run 8 deg as long as I stay off the hwy.
