Told you so...no bare skin! Long sleeve T-shirt, or underliner, cool vest and mesh jacket with armor is my air conditioner combo. Underliners (Cycle Gear Heat-Out) top and bottom.

Known that for years. When I see someone in a tank top or short sleeves I know they either just moved here or they don't ride very much. 110+ will get you if you don't know how to dress.

I went for a ride yesterday with a gal I know and was our first ride together. At lunch, I told her that I appreciate that she rides ATGATT too, even tho it was a hot day. She said that for a long time she didn't until a woman in a group she was riding with, who was wearing a tank top, went down and slid a long way. The road rash had completely removed a breast and my friend, liking her breasts, decided to protect them as well as her whole body.

Yep. Years in Havasu taught me to use the mesh jacket in the summer. I rarely need the wet cooling vest beneath that simply because if you live in the heat you get acclimated.

Kinda funny in a way. I would stroll on in to a place with the jacket on and it's 126 degrees outside. The looks I got were priceless because they didn't know it was a mesh jacket. I'd ham it up and act like I was shivering while they were all dressed in the least amount of clothes possible while staying decent.

I'd explain how the mesh jacket kept the sun off the skin preventing the radiation from keeping the heat in the skin for a long time after coming inside. I generally get the deer in the headlight look though. They just can't seem to understand how a jacket can keep someone cooler. It just goes against everything they know.

The one explanation they would seem to get is the analogy of a swamp cooler. If I said I sweat then the air passing through the mesh cools me like a swamp cooler; they would get that even though it was not technically all there was to it. Only half of it.

Am going to try hanes X-Temp

Thanks for posting this! I've been looking at these shirts for a few years now but they are usually something like $30 each plus shipping through the sites I've seen.

At these prices I had to get a couple long sleeve and short sleeve shirts. Good selection of colors too.

The nice thing about these shirts is they help keep a person warm when cold and cool when hot. A regular cotton T might hold moisture so when it gets cold, even there's 3 layers on top of it, it can make a person feel colder. Good stuff.

I've been to Vegas at least twice on business within the last 5 years during September both times.

I had always thought that high dry heat was more tolerable than high humid heat. I was wrong! The last time I went, 105 °F was awful! I couldn't stand to be outside for very long.

In The South:
In 95 °F with high humidity, you will perspire profusely doing absolutely nothing. Your body continues to produce sweat without getting the cooling effect it should give you. Thus, my skin needs lots of air. However, riding in anything at 95 and above is no fun. I don't ride in it unless I'm on a very shady two-lane for a long distance.

While I will always suggest and recommend that everyone follow the ATGATT rule when riding, I personally do not follow it in the summer.

This is more my speed!
