I seen lots bikes out today, but only two Victorys. A red Jackpot going the opposite direction (we waved at each other) and a High-Ball parked on White avenue. thumb up

Thanks to the guy on the M-109 that waved a bunch of bikes down to warn us of Edmonton’s finest (NOT!) ahead handing out the illegal $250 fines to all V-twin cruiser bikes for the bike noise bylaw, we avoided them.thumb up
Edmonton has dropped the charge for anyone whom disputes it so the by-law will not get removed. Who needs the hassle of taking the time off work to go to court only to have them drop the charge.

Great day for cruising, sunny and 25°C. I finely went home at 10:00 pm. cheers

Have you heard of anyone from out of town getting the noise tickets? I ride there quite often but I have never been stopped yet. I'm hoping that having 'tourist' plates will make them look the other way.

I don't know if they ticket bikers from out of town as I also live out of town and just avoided them

They will ticket anyone and EVERYONE they get a chance to. I have gotten one myself and I did fail the test. Yes I will fight it and continue to do so until they realize that this is profiling. The ONLY bikes ticketed seem to be Vtwins. While being tested a rice rocket car with a garbage can exhaust on it went roaring by with his stereo pounding so loud that the office actually had to wait for him to pass to continue talking to me!
Now we are not against the bylaw itself....only how it is enforced. Make it fair for everyone and things will be a lot better. Unfortunately there is no "approved" testing procedure in place for anything other than bikes so thats what they have sunk their teeth into.
It is the publics responsibility to know and understand the laws of the area in which they will be riding....thats their argument for ticketing out of towners.
As a side note....my buddy's BONE STOCK sportster failed the test right alongside mine....how would that grab ya?

Whyte Ave is a heat score...simple fix... dont ride there.

never saw the fascination why people want to cruze that stretch or inner city road. too much traffic. too many cops

You are right for the most part Paca. But sometimes it is nice to head down there with a group of friends and grab a bite on a patio or something. It is a busy place for sure and I certainly dont "cruise" up and down mindlessly. Unfortunately as things get progressively worse here with the ticketing bikes wont go down there and thats too bad for businesses and merchants etc. There is a bigger picture here and it's all over the news lately as I'm sure you have seen being a local. I know I don't go down there anymore but bikes are getting stopped everywhere now. I think at last count the EPS had 35 or 37 members on the `Noise Squad`specifically for enforcing the noise bylaw....too bad its bikes that are the only thing they are targeting.

You got a point. no argument here.

Would be interesting to see if they spend as much time going after the drivers with cell phones in use while driving. Plenty of un-enforced bylaws in the Edmonton area. They sure like to go after the bikes though

Myself i plan on running a set of "ground pounders" on my bike,or similar so Whyte Ave will be off my riding area list. LOL
I know they can nail me anywhere in the city, but being out in Leduc I prefer to ride the hi-ways and make a trip to another local town for a coffee or lunch. Some times ride up to Gull lake or other areas and enjoy the sights

Definately right bud! I don't go in to the city all that much....the road trips outside the concrete jungle are WAY better in my books!

PS: sorry to hijack the thread miles!
