I thought there was a thread on here about the Witchdoctor shifter bushings. Maybe it was on the other site. I picked up a set of 4 on Ebay for $9.00 vs Witchdoctors $40 for 2?. Anyway I ran into some of the same issues that others have had with the Witchdoctors. First issue I had was they did not fit snugly into the arm and would turn. My fix was to take a prick punch and make several small dimples around the id of the shifter opening. problem solved. Thought I was good to go, not. Once I tightened the bolt up, the shifter would not move at all. The outer wall of the bushing is a bit thicker than the stock nylon bushing so the shoulder of the bolt failed to extend outside of the bushing causing the bushing to be tightened against the mount instead of the bolt shoulder. Removed the bushings and ground down the face of the bushings on a grinding wheel. Reinstalled and all seems to be working ok. There is absolutely no wobble in the shift arm, which was my original problem. The bolt fits in the bushings pretty snug so I don't know how much grease stayed on the bushings. We will see how long they last. Maybe at the end of the season I'll pull them out and lube them again. Bottom line $40 for Witchdoctors or $9 off Ebay. ....Hmmm?
My next project, idle air valve for under $15.:grin

I bought a multi pack of the "brass" bushings also, I don't remember how much I spent on them but it was nowhere near $40 and I have several years worth of bushings. The ones I have fit without any issues(except some minor sanding) and so far are lasting. I put a set in at the beginning of last season and the shifter is still solid.

While I support Witchdoctors as much as possible there are limits to my loyalty. I purchased mine on amazon for $11.59.

I bought mine from WD before they started appearing on eBay. It was $38 for 4, plus shipping (which was crazy). I still have 2 left, I didn't do the brake side.

Think I figured out why either the brass or the stock nylon bushings wear so quickly. My 04 Kingpin had 44,000 miles and never had an issue with the bushings. My 2011 has 5000 mi. and the slop was ridiculous. Why the difference? The 04 had the heel-toe with pegs on both ends so when shifting the pressure is pretty much straight down. The 2011 has that small foot plate on the back, I guess for more foot room on the floor board. When shifting only the right side of your heel will be on the plate with the rest of your foot hanging off. It only stands to reason the the force of the foot will push sideways against the shift arm causing excess force on the bushing resulting in premature wear. If mine are indicative of the way others have worn, it's not an even wear all the way around but one side of the shifter and wore mostly in one spot.
I will say with the new bushings there is no wobble in the shift arm and shifts do feel more positive.

I have WD bushings installed on my XR's shifter and it moves very tight and smooth. But I have observed that when I downshift if my foot gets lazy and the sole of my foot is angled so it only contacts the outer end of the peg the shift is much harder. If I keep my foot level so the force is parallel to the shift pivot then the shift is much smoother. When I upshift with my heel, the ball of my foot stays on the floorboard so my contact with the heel shifter is usually level.

The shifter arms (both toe and heel) are extremely long compared to the bearing surfaces at the pivot. There are tremendous forces generated around those bushings.
