I am located in Nebraska and found a Cross Country at Twigg Cycles in Hagerstown, MD I am thinking about buying. I am wondering if there is anyone in that area who would be willing to head over to the dealership and check the bike over for me before I purchase it? It has really low miles and looks amazing in the photos. Dealer says it's in perfect condition but I would feel better having an independent person check it over for me.

Next question if I buy it is how to get it back to Nebraska. I got quotes from Haul Bikes and Motorcycle Shippers. Does anyone have experience with either of these companies or is there anyone else I should be talking to?

Let me know.
Thanks!

$9,500 isn't a bad price for 4500 miles with the extras that's on the bike. Looks like V&H exhaust. If I were you, I'd fly out there and ride it home. Sorry, not anywhere near the dealer to eyeball it for you.

I know the price is right. It will cost about $750 to have it shipped. Probably cost that to get out there and get it back and I don't have the time for that. Just need to decide if I can justify the cost right now.

I've used Haul Bikes.
The whole process went well. The bike was delayed a few days, but arrived just like I dropped it off. Overall I was pleased and would use them again.

Dropped my bike off at a dealership in AZ. They came by a few days later and picked it up. They dropped it off on the other end of the country about 20 days later.

For the drop off we were not near a major highway, so we met them in a town that was near by and rode the bike home. They were there on time, on the side of the road, with the bike out and waiting.

Be aware that they have a height limit on the motorcycles that they transport.
You will have to have the windshield removed from your motorcycle to qualify for that quoted price. Even if your bike is just under the height the driver will still want it off so there is no chance of it getting damaged in transport.

Get the removal of the windshield and boxing so it doesn't get damaged and the cooperating with the shipper included when you negotiate the final price from the seller if you can.

Thank you for your input Joe. I checked with Haul Bikes and they said if the bike is taller than 58 inches it will need to be removed. So if I do buy the bike I will have the dealer measure and remove if needed.

I appreciate the information.

I have used 2 shippers in the past and most recently a private hauler who goes most every where, Allinone transport, I have a business card but I'll be damned if I can find it. Shipped my Kingpin from Virginia to Connecticut for $250. Found them on U-Ship. The other company is Keyboard Shippers who use specialized bike carriers that they patented. They are on the expensive side but well worth it.
Good luck, let us know if you make the deal.

Scott-

I live about 35 minutes from Twigg. They are the dealer I use for servicing my Indian and I will use them for the Victory if/when necessary.
I was just there on Friday to check out the new Chieftains.

I can go by and check it out for you if you want.
By the way, they are a GREAT dealership.

Let me know-

Mike

Hi Mike. Thank you for the response. I appreciate the offer. Wish we could have connected on Friday when you were at the dealership but I did end up purchasing the bike on Friday. They made too good a deal to pass up and the guy I've been working with has been great. So far so good with them. Now I need to line up transportation. I would love to fly out and ride it home but I don't have enough time off work for that right now. So have to wait for it to ship and hope we still have some nice riding days before winter.

Glad they made you a nice deal Scott. I'm guessing that you may have dealt with Chad.

Twigg is top notch and when they get Victory bikes in they do not last long. Before I bought my new one last year they had a low mileage one I wanted but BAM! it was in and out of their doors before I even had a chance to go look at it.

Good luck and let us know about the Bike once you get it.

Yep. Been emailing with Chad. He is very quick to respond and very helpful. Wasn't sure what kind of response I'd get through email but that's the only way we have been communicating and it's been great. It has made everything go smooth. I am super excited for the purchase. Now I just need to bike to get here and I will definitely share my bike with everyone once I get it.

Congrats on the new bike. Sounds like you have shipping set up. In case not, just wanted to let you know that I used Motorcycle Shippers to get my new Vision from Oregon to Florida and they did it without getting a scratch on her.

Thank you Roger. I did get a quote from them but Haul Bikes was cheaper and so far cheaper than anything I can get on uship. So think I'm going with them. Wire was sent for the bike today. So now need to get the logistics set up so I can ride!
