The stock CCT windshield is very elegant and well designed. The WS attaches to the frame and the frame to the fairing body. The WS is held in place with 6 bolts that lock into box style nuts the reside inside a channel on the backside of the frame. They are not noticeable from the rider position and the end of the allen head bolts stop inside the nuts inside the channel so that you don't see the bottom of the bolt. very nice and sturdy. Quite elegant execution.

All of it off of the painted surface and very wide giving excellent protection but much too tall for me as I like looking over.

The Vstream is much narrower and shorter. Measures 13 top to bottom. It requires that one take off not only the stock WS but also the frame. Placing the VS on the fairing body previously holding the stock WS frame.
To accomplish this one must wedge the VS under the outer fairing to fit the WS to the fairing body. The Customer service rep was unfamiliar with the problem and said to call back tomorrow when someone with more knowledge would be on duty. He did say to take off the rubber vibration strip under the fairing skin that mated to the inner fairing (to reduce vibration) I did not want take off the outer fairing if I did not have to.
That made no sense if I wanted to return to the stock setup. Installation instructions were wrong and conveyed incorrect information. Made no mention of having to take off the frame. No mention of rubber strips inside outer fairing. Took several hours of frustration and stress trying to install. Finally wedged VS in without molesting any of the painted surfaces or gouging anything....

I may end up not liking the VStream if it does not provide adequate protection and in that case I will have the stock WS just cut down and sell the Vstream.. Too late for a test ride tonight... Tomorrow !

I think I understand why it frustrated you. Had you known about these issues before; you likely would not have paid good treasure for the V-Stream.

I'm using the same shield but with the Madstad bracket system so I can change the angle and height of the shield. I can change the angle on the fly without stopping.

If you haven't scratched the bottom of the shield by tucking in under the fairing; you might consider going that route. Yes, it's more money, but the end result is really functional. However, there are those who don't care for the look, for whatever reason.

Also; it looks like you don't have the correct bolts for the shield. The correct bolts are button head allen. Be sure you are using rubber washers on both sides of the shield or you might start seeing cracks start from the hole going outward and get an annoying vibration buzz from the top dash piece.

You did it correctly though. It's mounted just like they are on the XC.

Thanks Bob,
It's the exact bolts that came with the CCT.
SO I can use the MadStat with either the factory WS or this V-stream if I understand correctly?
And the price for the Madstat bracket is another $119.00? After this much $$ whats another Franklin? Thanks for the info I will test ride today probably in the rain and get some much needed rubber grommets!
