Hey guys! My beautiful and amazing wife planned an incredible weekend for my birthday.

Apparently the Cabot Trail is one of the best roads for motorcycles in Canada, and many say the world. All i know is that I'm doing the run, the rest (like where we are staying) is still a surprise.

But here's a peek;

http://cabottrailbiker.com/

I'm super stoked. We are going to take 4 days to do the 1500km trip and soak up all the beauty Cape Breton Island has to offer. I am promised scenic views and gorgeous twistys.

I look forward to seeing my Judge right here;

and here;

and one more because its so damn pretty;

We are capturing the whole thing on the new GoPro she got me. So once we get the footage chopped down I will post a best of to the youtubes. See you guys Monday!

Do you goto Tim's on Thursday night ?
If so maybe we can meet there sometime.

The Cabot trail is very cool. But I can't understand where they give it such a high rating.

The section you show in the pictures is not very long. And 80 percent is just basic back roads.

Your wife wants to do that run on a Judge........ Wow she is a tough cookie.

I can't get my wife to do it on my XCT

Hey Rob! I have heard about the Thursdays but I'm not sure which Tim's you mean. I'm so busy all the time that when I'm out I end up at the Fall River Tim's...which, if i organized a Vic ride based upon proximity to Route 1, is the one I'd choose. But I do end up at the Fall River one 3-4 times a week. Names Barry...look for the black Judge with the KA on the side, cant miss it!

As for the wife I didn't really clarify...stay tuned for pics and an explanation soon :D

So a few weeks ago my wife tells me too book a 4 day for my birthday. Since I know she doesn't like riding on the back for long trips I assume it's in the car. Then she tells me to prep the bike for a good weekend and dropped the map of the Cabot trail on my lap. All i was allowed to know was I was doing the trail and nothing else. Well what a trip this girl planned for me.

She got a head start with the dog in the car each day allowing me to take my time down roads like this;

I would arrive at places like this to a Lobster and Crab dinner cooked for me and a warm bed to sleep in;

Each of my four days were filled with views like this;

and roads like these;

All the while meeting guys like this guy. He left South Africa on his Beemer in 2010 and hasn't been home since. Saw with my own eyes 200,000km on the bike. In 3 years. 101 countries, ever continent except antartica. Man he had some stories. (motogypsybiker.com i believe).

And eating in places like this bike friendly joint. Coastal restaurant had cheery staff and good food. They also sport a T-shirt you can only purchase if you are a biker who has rode the trail. It can only be found at that one location and can't be bought online, only in person, with your bike. thumb up

Cape Breton island is the nicest place I have ever rode a motorcycle. What a great trip. I HIGHLY recommend you find the time to explore Canada's east coast. There are a ton of places with gorgeous views and good prices to crash. AND SO MUCH TO EXPLORE. Roads were very well maintained. We took 3 days to do the 1400km trip. But the trail itself was olnly about 600 or 700 km of that. I recommend taking your time and spending at least one full day going off the main road. So much to see.

Anyway, this post is getting long as it is. Stay safe, but have fun!

Thanks for the update Barry
Glad you had a good time.

My last run around the Cabot Trail I was alone and left Bedford in the morning and was back home that night. I had a blast. It was a high speed run and some of those hair pin turns had the hair on the back of my head standing on edge.

Thanks man!

Jeez I almost forgot one of the best things to come out of this past weekend! We met this cool couple that had been on the road for 2 weeks now. He was riding some old Yamaha cruiser I could't recognize anymore and she was toying around on some sport bike that had a bunch of letters or something. Well after talking to buddy's wife , mine has decide to get her license!

As you can see from that one pic, she's a bit too tiny for a Vic. I'm pretty excited...I've been bugging her for years to just take the course and see how she feels. No sense in like pushing her into it obviously. But over the winter I'll have my eyes open for a nice little beater for her to learn on, now that she's on board!

We stayed in Whycocomagh (Why-cog-ho-mah) Park the first night. They had yurts. Its basically a rigid frame ten man tent with a double bed in it, actually two bunk beds with doubles on the bottom (you could comfortably sleep 6 in a yurt). They have a lot of tent sites that are great too. Great view and about 25 minutes to the start of the actual Cabot Trail. Then we stayed at the "Hideaway Campground". Thats where we stayed in the light house thing. Also had tenting sites. There is no shortage of places though. We passed the "Jumping Mouse" campground and it looked great and is further into the trail. Tons of places once you decide how you want to do the trail. We chose to take our time...but you could easily do the trail itself in a day.
