I know that some of the folks here have been wiped out and had to start over.
Some of you must have had to deal with insurance companies after whatever took out your stuff was over.

I've got some questions. since I have never been through this before. After the fire or tornado, hurricane etc How did you proceed with your insurance company. If you have a replacement value policy what does that really mean? What do you have to produce to prove what you had? I've no experience at this.

Is it itemized lists with pictures or pictures or are pictures alone adequate?
Do you need the serial numbers of each item, or the big items? Do you need a complete inventory?
What about the unusual stuff like hardwood lumber, electrical supplies, machine tools, welding equipment Etc.

First thing you do is get an insurance adjuster to represent you. They do it everyday, and will get you all you are owed. Do not deal with your ins.co.on your own. Hope it works out for you.
