Hey guys, my bike has been running kinda rough lately, stalling at stops and with the clutch pulled in. I replaced the throttle body boot/adapter, whatever you wanna call it. It helped a lot, it just still stumbles a bit around 1700-2000 rpm. I'm probably going to replace the pts and was wondering if there is any kind or resetting or calibrating I need to do when I put the new one in, or is it just a plug and play? P.s, the throttle body was just cleaned and the battery terminals are clean and tight. Thanks for any help/suggestions cheers

The battery is pretty new, I just ordered the napa part a few minutes ago. Once I get it and put it in I'll see how it runs. I was just wondering if there was anything else that needed to be done besides just putting it in

Yeah I've done that before, the bike has been running rough for awhile now. I'm gonna put the sensor in and see what happens

Tim, it stumbles in any gear between 1700-2000 rpm. It isn't too bad if I ride like a grandma, but if I get on it a little (which I like to do) it stumbles really bad. The tb was cleaned less than 50 miles ago. It wasn't too dirty, last I cleaned it before that was about 29k, now it has almost 32k. I ran a bottle of fuel system cleaner thru it at about 30k. It has rpw slash exhaust and a k&n air filter. I don't think the air box is original, but I think it is a victory air box. It's hard to explain. It may be from a different year Vic. Idk all modifications to the bike were on it when I bought it.

It has been doing it for awhile, before and after cleaning intake and filter, new plugs and all that. I have never replaced the plug wires, I should probably put that on my list of things to do. I usually shift around 2200-2500. It stumbles on the way up to shifting rpm. I've tried shifting at different points, but once it gets to 1700 it will start stumbling. That's usually only in first gear, I'm above that rpm the rest of the time. But like I said, I've tried shifting at different points, so I've had it stumble in the other gears. I know that riding in low rpm isn't too good for these bikes, so I gave up low rpm shifting and went back to my normal shifting

Tim, I'll try the shift points in the book, I need to replace the clutch switch so I'll get the wires at the same time. I already have the sensor, so when I put it on I'll get a picture of the air box and filter. Maybe you or someone knows what it is. Should be decent tomorrow so hopefully I do some riding. Also needs tires. Ugh

Crossroads, I've done the throttle point reset before, it didn't seem to help much except for when the engine light came on

D, did your dealer have a dyno or did you have to take it somewhere else? And I made a half ass attempt to get to it without pulling the tank (again) but just decided I'll go ahead an pull it

And I'm not positive it HAD to be DYNO'd...but know it has to be dialed in somehow...or should. He just gave me the works, since it was right there. I can ask him for sure what HAS to be done....have to talk to him anyway soon.
If you could find out what HAS to be done, that would be awesome. My closest dealer is 2 hours away, and I have no idea where the closest shop with a dyno is. Also, the bike doesn't have the stock air box, so I can pull it off the tb to get to the sensor. thumb up

Glad I was of some help. Not often I am. I'm usually the one who needs the help. BTW, love those slashed pipes. Thats what I want for mine. 725.00 on ebay. How do they sound?

I love the pipes, I think they look awesome and sound awesome. They're pretty loud too. They were chrome once, but they were discolored even when I bought the bike. I got tired of gold pipes so I wrapped them lol. What brand are the ones you found on eBay? And are they used or new?

I've swapped out throttle bodies with the air box in before. When I get home I'll take a look to see if I remember how I did it. Wanna say when you unbolt the box you should be able to move the TB and get to the TPS easier.

The airbox on my bike isn't the stock one, all I have to do is unbolt it from the tb and it comes right off. I'll get a picture of it when I pull it off, maybe someone can tell me what it is

Well I put the new sensor on, did the throttle reset, now it runs like ****. Worse than before. It'll barely even idle. Any ideas? Only thing I can think is I got a bad sensor

It doesn't have tubes in it, it's open inside. I reckon I'll go into work tomorrow early, had to leave the bike there, and put the old sensor back on and see what it does. Kind of a buzzkill, it's supposed to be nice this weekend:(

I went to go put the old sensor back on and noticed a broken wire on the map sensor. Fixed the wire, and it helped a little but it still ain't right. I'll put the old sensor back on when I can and go from there

Sounds like you got my kinda luck. Yea I would double check connections and all that...but also make sure those little rubber nipple things are on the the throttle body and it aint sucking air.
Yeah that's what I'm gonna do, double check everything. Make sure there's nothing out of place. I recapped the nipples on the tb not too long ago, the old rubber caps were gone :crzy:

If i'm not mistaken that airbox/filter is off of a 99 v92c. My mechanic told me that to get the best bang for my buck, to get one of these setups to replace my box with the tubes. Says it breathes better. Obviously a big sucker with a power commander is better....
I looked up both intakes, they look very similar. I wish I could meet whoever owned the bike before me. I have many questions for him:confused:

I guess just defective. I checked the part before I ordered it and it is the correct replacement, and other people have used that same part as a replacement. So I guess I just got a bad one
