tranmission on y 08 vegas jackpot terrible all it does is clunk plus neutral very hard to get into. terrible price to pay at 18.5k needs improvement for sure.. yours like this?

oil

oil have been change twice aleady last one 2,000 miles ago. My eblams on the tank (both) fell off going to Rolling Thunder the other week my "6 speed' embal fell off last year, what kind of glue does Victory use anyway?

if its been 2,000 miles since your last oil change you might want to change it I bet it will help. I took my badges off my bike the day i bought it. it looks alot better that way everyone asks what is that thing they think its a custom or something probably because i had
18" apes on it.

One Man's Opinion

Hey,
I am sorry to hear of your problem. I run a custom motorcycle website www.thebeachcruiser.com. We have been up for over three years and get close to 100,000 unique visitors a month. I have been fortunate to get to know a lot of industry people from builders to dealers to enthusiasts to you name it.
I owned personally a custom until last summer. I loved the bike but I was ready for a change. I have researched pretty much everything from cruiser to bagger to trike to scooter. I wanted to keep an open mind and try to stay honest with about my age,my purpose and what I could afford.
I researched the Victory thoroughly as it has a really good mechanical rep. The 100 engine has a rock solid rep and the styling speaks for itself. I went to see the bikes and test rode the Jackpot and the Vision. I also read every review that was out there. I found overwhelmingly positive reviews. There were some problems like clicking and noise and Victory had addressed those concerns in 08. The only possible negative was that the back brake had a tendency to fish tail. I never heard anything about an issue with the oil. I think that the deals you can get on an 08 Ness Jackpot are the best out there. I found that for under $19,000 you could get the bike with 4.99% financing(with good credit) and a 5 year warranty. The Ness Jackpot is a limited edition(200) which is the closest to a one off custom I have found. Diamond cut engine,chrome everywhere,excellent paint and the bike sold for $23,999 new last year. There are bikes that are new 08's for right about 19k. Polaris is the mother company and although hard to believe,Victory is 10 years young. The only comparable production custom is Big Dog but,the price is higher and I have heard of some mechanical issues there. I still think Big Dog makes a kick ass bike.
Unfortunately,every manufacturer has some problem bikes and the good ones stand behind their product. If you have serviced your bike regularly and use a suitable oil the stats say you got a "bad piece of fish". I would address the problem with the dealer first and then the company. I have found the Victory people to be better than most with client problems. I bought the Corey Ness Jackpot and put on Ness pipes an S+S filter(extra 5 mph) and chrome floor boards. The bike sounds and looks great and the boards were a personal choice(comfort). The chrome pegs that come with the bike are beautiful.
I just got the bike but I will share any problems or lack there of I experience. I am riding the legends ride out at Sturgis this year as a guest of the Buffalo Chip. They are providing myself and a few others with a ride. It's interesting that they are providing Victory.
Last,Arlen and Cory as well as Roland Sands have lent their name to Victory. The Ness reputation is solid gold and they care about everything they put their name on.
I hope you are able to resolve your problem. I am interested to hear how your dealer and the company respond.

change to amisoil 10/40 you will feel an improvement, the trans on mine is only clunky going to 1 st. but then in fairness so was my harley.

Transmission Issues

Big V...

Sorry to hear about your trans issues. Take the issue up witht the dealership. In my experience in Indianapolis....the dealership (Falcone Motorsports) has been extremely helpful and Gene Tomey and the boys have gone out of their way to alliviate the issues I have had with my Vegas 8-Ball.

My 8-Ball is an 2005 with 12,090 miles. Most of the miles are highway with trips to Sturgis, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, etc. The bike had some issues with calibrating the air/fuel mixture when I put the Santa Rosa Aces pipes on it when I purchased the bike, but I switched to the Ness Slash pipes and it has run Strong ever since!!! The dealership worked with me on this issue and worked on the bike several times before we got it right...at no extra charge on several of the trips to the service dept.

But...currently, I have been having issues with the trans and clutch. In warm weather the bike shifts rough and I practically have to kick the shifter to downshift. It runs better in cold weather but the problems still exsists. Also, finding neutral can be a problem. The bike seems to run at a higher RPM at crusing speeds and it does not pull as hard as it used to. I think it is the clutch assembly, which needs to be replaced at the tune of $900.00 and that is just for the part.

I have not run the **** out of it and I always take care of my motorcycles. I have tried the oil changing deal and it has not helped. I am having a hard time grasping the fact that I am having clutch/Transmission issues on a bike that has 12,000 miles. Gene at Falcone Motorsports is going to take a look at it later today.

I will post again soon to keep anyone interested informed. I hope it does not happen to other Vic's!

Vic trannys are noisy...bullet proof but noisy, How many miles do you have on the bike? because the entire animal quiets down quit a bid as the bike ages and miles are put on. As far as Amsoil...I tried it. It was fine but it really didn't quiet it down that much. "No Oil Threads! anyway it does get quieter

put my MC away last sunday, after Thanksgiving has 8500 miles on it just changed oil, twice this year and still is terrible, oh well. happy holidays

The Victory transmission is all gear driven, no belts. It is and is going to be clunky. Thats all there is to it. Fresh oil will soften the sound some but after 250 or so miles it will go back to being loud.

It is what it is, a GEAR driven tranny.

Vegas Tranny

I've had my 2006 Victory Vegas 8-Ball for 22 months now with no previous owner. I've rode over 30,000 miles on it and Victory trannies are somewhat clunky my bike rides very well. In fact, it almost seems like it sounds better than when I first bought it. I ride it year-around down to 10 degrees last winter and have had no problems. Talk to your dealer if there's a problem. Otherwise you haven't maintained it like you should, have altered the bike when you shouldn't have or just wanna bitch.

Instead of assuming he is bitching maybe consider it could be he has not been on a gear driven bike and is concerned.

The Victory bikes have a lot of engine noise. It was a concern I had with mine when I first bought it.

Yep my 08 Pin is a "clunker" into first gear from stationary but is okay through the range and no troubles with finding nuetral.
