This may be long , I will get to the point . I will mention no names , unless it comes to that via your responses . I , like lots of you buy stuff for my bike online . Most of what I am looking for , when I ask my dealer , he looks puzzled , and baffled . So its online I go . I have purchased stuff from 6-7 different Vic Vendors so far . 3 of them have been stellar , and I have gone back for more ... A few more , not so great . Let me reflect , The 3 that are great , I get an immediate Emailed invoice , with all info you can imagine on it with a invoice # and confirmation of received order . Usually , within an hour or two , I will receive a shipping confirmation with tracking info . Wow , who would have thought ! Some of the better Vendors also show "in stock" quantities for their items right next to them , this I also like . The better vendors too , will provide info such as B/O , and delayed shipping items and ask how you would like to proceed . You see for me , its all about communication , and the most info the Vendor provides to me . When I pay I use Paypal primarily , so I'm actually laying out MY cash for the product , NOT charging it , and when , say you lay out 800.00 for some pipes , You want to know when you are getting them and all pertinent info there in . Certain Vendors have no interest in communication , and these guys leave me bewildered and pissed . This has happened more than I like to admit , and I'm sure I am not alone . How these guys stay in business is a mystery to me . I would like to know what's important to you guys when ordering online . I'm cutting this short , because its already too long , and I will be happy to bloviate more if anybody responds , suffice to say I'm eager to hear your online tales , good or bad . I am not looking to openly bash anyone , no names need be mentioned .

Good communication is a must, reasonable delivery time & good quality. Nothing worse than paying top dollar for crap.

Lets name some names for those wondering or on the fence.
These guys for highway pegs. Wife got them for me but they were the wrong floorboard style. Contacted them and got the mounts for the correct floor mounts. The mounts are well made machined aluminum, they put some thought in this. The pegs themselves weren't much to talk about but for the price no complaints and after a year they still look just as good as the day they went on, so much for "looks".

Digital Guard Dog, they were fantastic to deal with. Nuff said
Victory HID, I haven't bought from them but the information that CrossRoads was willing to share made my getting the factory HID the right color for my eyes to work well with. Even though he knew what I wanted CR was in for the long haul on questions and good info. I had to take it and use it properly as with all information, but it saved a lot of trial and error. If you need a whiter headlight for the 12 HID, then give a pm and I can direct you to one. My eyes just didn't do well with the cool color from the factory.
Witchdoctor, haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet. They are pretty quick to respond to questions and seem straight up. I will be going with them on some items.
I'm not really into modding the bike but some things just make the ride better.
Corbin was a disappointment for me. Great product but slow results. I like what I ended up with but it was trying, Just beware if you use them. Some have nothing but love for them, but my experience wasn't so grand. FWIW
People put faith in vendors to have a good product for their money. If a brick and mortar were around that had what I wanted and the info these guys hand out, I'd use them even if the price was a bit higher. Not going to fret over $20-$30 if I can lay hands on it. Nothing in my area seems close. Still need to make the trip to Strokers and see what they are all about, but that is about all I have any hope for.
Merry Christmas Y'all!!

I haven't bought a Corbin in a while, but their customer service has been lacking for as long as I've used them. They always get me what I want, but I'm always a little suspect I will due to their unenthusiastic responses on the phone. I bought a windscreen from Cee Bailey's earlier this year and again had a customer service rep that seemed as if I was interrupting his Facebook time to take an order. Again, he ended up doing fine after I convinced him to talk to the old codger in the back who actually makes the things.

I think it's just the progressive nature of overpopulation. No one knows anyone anymore or seems to care to. Just look at all the bizarre hateful crap that goes on between us supposedly dedicated Vic owners on this very site. Normally, I'm apt to meet and ride with people from forums, but the way some of the people on this one behave, you'd think they were just let out of the pen.

Times change, whaddya gonna do?

I bought my timing wheel at WD earlier in the year and just ordered 2 items from his 12 days sale. I will continue to buy what I want there if he has it.
I also got in on the DGD sale and got a personal phone call when I mentioned on here that I was thinking about getting another Dawg Tag. He seems to have matched up my purchase with the phone number on my original purchase. Today I got the new tag matched up with my 4V so I returned the tool he sent to get the tag synched with the bike.

It all comes down to a motto I use as a business owner...bending over backwards is great exercise when conducting business.

All good points. Business owners and business workers need to be a special breed. Especially when doing business with afficionados, passionate, knowledgeable equipment owners.

I could never do it, and would not enjoy doing it.
But I greatly appreciate those who do this and do it well.

Communication is the key. Second right after knowing your product and knowing what it can be used on and with.

In the motorcycle world you rarely run up against a completely stock bike. Knowing if your product will work with the myriads of other aftermarket gizmos has to be very trying.

I ordered something from the local Vic dealer (Jack's Custom Cycle). The lady went to great trouble to ensure it would work for me. Going back and talking to a mechanic, asking questions about floor boards and pegs. Getting the VIN number, showing me pictures. If it does not fit, it would be hard to fault her or Jack's.

Since I bought a used 9 year old motorcycle, and I am not familiar with Vic's, I have no idea what is stock and what is not on my own bike.

Kudo's to Jack's Custom Cycles and to Janet.

The standard I have found is simple. Order made. Order confirmation via email; many times in just seconds with bigger outlets. Order Shipped notice with tracking number. Order arrives. Very basic.

If a delay in getting the order shipped happens; I would hope the outlet lets the customer know why and when the product can be expected to ship. Stuff happens and sometime inventory does not match up with the posted inventory on hand so the next order coming in or batch of the product being made there should be known to let the customer know. It's a bear when the business can't get a firm answer from the place they get parts if they are the middle man in the deal.

All very simple. If these basic online business practices are not happening; the outlet needs to firm up their way of doing business if they want to stay in business.

If I search on their site and can not find where the business is located, I do not buy. Some E-Bay and Amazon is like this with no way to find out where the business is located. I will not buy.

Witchdoctor---got email confirmation for everything I purchased within an hour of making it (3 separate invoices)

Mike at HMD is great and I can't tell you how many emails I have from him talking about custom parts...he even offered to talk the wife out of divorcing me because "I was buying more sh*t for that da*n bike that I love more than her." He did that one too well cause she stayed.

The guys that know the bikes and love to ride are the ones that make the best owners due to the fact they know what we all want and need to have.

I've had very good luck ordering parts online. The only bad order was from JP cycles. I had ordered a windshield for my Vegas. I chatted with a rep on the web site who assured me that the windshield and mount would work on my Vegas. I got the order and tried to install it and found that the mount kit was for a hammer so it did not fit. So when I called them to return it. They said ok and let me return it but I had to pay the return shipping. Now I can understand if it was my mistake. When it's there mistake I don't feel the customer should have to pay to ship anything back.
