hey guys, I'm still trying to find my dream bike, in love with the 14 red and black highball. they are few and far between, now that the dealer has sold out of them.

found one online not far from me, it's only got 915km on it, it has arlen ness bars (the big ones that come way back and need the highball ape hanger wiring length) a set of cobra 2-1 exhaust, the white seat, and a luggage rack on it. none of which would i even think about buying for it, if i had bought it from the factory, and to top it off, he doesn't have the original parts.

the thing is, the guy is asking almost retail for it...

the bike is 2 years old and has 915km on it, I realize there's next to no mileage, but that's way too much, isn't it? the 2016's are going for 15,899, and I seem to remember the red and black one was only 1000 more back in 2014. So it was a 16899 bike new.

checked a website which gives canadian blue book values, and it came up with 12,899.

he's asking way too much for the bike, right?

The extras he put on it don't mean crap. If the bikes were selling for 16899 (CND) then you could have got it for 15K to 15.5K easily when new. I wouldn't give a dime over $11k for it and would try harder for $10k. Victorys do not hold their value that well, about the same as a Jap bike. The seller wants way too much and if he won't budge then move one.

first off, thanks for the replies

yeah, I hear you for sure. I'm thinking he's not going to come down much from the 15,200 he's asking. especially seeing as he keeps saying the bike is brand new. NO, sorry, your bike is 2 years old, it was brand new before you put your shitty ass parts on it!

i would say it should be worth more than 11, but there's no way i would be paying over 13 for it. i would be happy with 12 though. interesting thing about the dealerships up here though, for some reason, there is NO negotiation on price. I tried to buy this bike new in 2014, i couldn't get them to come down at all. I could get $300 off of their demo model, that's it though. I walked away from it then, because I didn't feel like I was getting the best deal I could.

as for the extras, totally agree. I would pay more for the bike if he had these extras AND the factory parts that I could put back on it, but he doesn't, so i'll have to go find the factory parts and swap them out

sadly though, the majority of those are way more than the $15,000 the guy is asking for the local one, due to our horrible exchange rate. but i did find one that may just save me 5,000, and it's all factory, and still registered as new. been making calls all morning to find out the costs and PITA of importing a vehicle

gee if you bought one for 9k you would have 4k to spend on it and make it the way you want it.

yeah my thoughts exactly. atleast the cobras are worth more than the factory ones, so when I rip them off to put the xbow pipes on (that I want) i can sell them for more than the factory pipes are worth...

Don't know how things work in the great white north but if you can't get either a dealer or a private buyer to budge then you are going to have to increase your search area. I have found buying motorcycles is a much bigger pain in the *ss than buying a truck or car. I knew I wanted an XR when I was shopping in 2012 and I called/visited every dealer in a 5 hour radius. I knew XR's were not selling well and wanted a 12 model but found my 11 model and negotiated a little more than 25% off and took it home. This dealer was 2 hours away.

yeah, that's the way buying most things is up here, except victories are apparently a different beast. there are only 3 dealerships in canada, that are within like 14 hours from me, one I have to take a ferry at $75 (with bike) to get home from, and $20 to get to, I talked to them, could get them down $300 for mileage on a demo, and that's it, they would not budge any more than that. the local dealer just looked at me like I was nuts when I wanted to negotiate price. best I can reason, is because they are so few and far between, if you want a victory, you have to go to them. I am only an hour from the border, so I could buy an american bike, but the exchange is so horrible that it will be more than the prices up here are.

That's why i'm hoping this one from arizona works out for me. it's a $5000 savings from this guy's used bike, it's new, never registered, and only about $600 to ship it to the border, so i'm saving a lot of money, and don't have to worry about finding the original bars, pipes and seat.

I was wanting to buy a new Jackpot, glad I did not. The price was over $19000 in 2012 for the one I have. Waited and searched 2 years. I had already bought a Vegas new for $12500. Rode it 2 years then sold it. Harley dealers take in some Victory bikes. They sit on them awhile. They have to move them off the floor before spring comes to make way for new bikes. If you search Harley shops you will get lucky and find one cheap. I picked mine up for $10000 with only 4000 miles on it. So good luck on your search there is a lot of different search engines to look thru..
