hello all, i just want to post some things i have learned at this late date, maybe it'll help someone else. my bike is a 2002 v92c deluxe and i was never very happy with the ride. it was usable but always seemed harsh. anyway on my last service among the things that got done were a fork oil change and rear spring tension change. easiest was the rear spring, i simply backed it off 1/2 turn. next was fork oil change, the manual says to use 7/10 wt oil and i used repsol straight 7wt.. it is unbelievable how much the ride quality has improved without any (to me) noticible degrade in handling. even my wife commented on her first ride after the service and within about 10 mi. how much better it was. i don't know if this will help anyone else but i would say that if your bike is riding hard/harsh don't be afraid to change things up because this frame is capable of one of the finest rides you'll ever experience.

Good to hear! I thought mine was the only one that rode like a 1 ton Ford! haha I would hit bumps on the highway and my feet would come off the pegs! I have a 2002 V92c...Thanks for the tip!

I own a '02 and couldn't hack the poor suspension. I had tried several solutions but knew it could always be better. So, I got in touch with Race Tech a few years ago and they put together a set of cartridge emulators that made a huge difference up front. The good feeling on the front end eventually caught up to me and had to do something about the rear end. A few months ago, I got a Works Performance shock...bike rides fine!!

Im planning a couple maintenance actions during my 30,000 mile two of which was replacing fork oil and rebuild or replace the mono-shock.

So for Swatsonv92, you were happy with the 7wt during the summer as well? Just wanted to make sure before I went that route as our hwy here local is pretty rough but also will be on the road more during the summer this year.

On the mono-shock, I plan on putting the lowering clevis on while I had it out for rebuild and have currently adjusted my shock where the ride is better but now great so for BadMonk I was curious on the performance shock for bike height, did that change at all and/or have you incorporated the lowering clevis on your previous shock or this one? I do ride 2up on trips, not around town much, with her weight at 115 and my 225 so was wondering if you had any input on ride comfort with a passanger?

tims: the 7w rode mighty fine, the maintenance was finished in october although the weather here was still pretty hot (high 80s) the bike rode great with my weight(350) and the wife (130) on a decently long day trip. as to the rear shock/ lowering etc i dont know much about after market lowering kits, i simply adjusted the factory unit and dropped the bike -1/2". this adjustment and the light weight oil in the forks made the bike ride better than it ever has before.

Thanks Swatson. Im pretty sure I'm going to be good with the mono, I have already got the poc and a qoute on the clevis but was curious about the performance shock. Overall, after I adjusted the mono correctly the ride improved but the front has and does continue to feel a little stiff/bumpy on not so bad roads. Thanks for the the feedback!!!

Thanks Swatson. Im pretty sure I'm going to be good with the mono, I have already got the poc and a qoute on the clevis but was curious about the performance shock. Overall, after I adjusted the mono correctly the ride improved but the front has and does continue to feel a little stiff/bumpy on not so bad roads. Thanks for the the feedback!!!

tims: glad to hear its working out for you, i guess the only concern i have now is how durable is such a light weight oil and will it hold up to my weight in the summer as it gets pretty hot here. nothing to do except wait and see. ride safe.

Yup, same curiosity here about the coming summer and will be giving the 7wt a try. Will see how it does, have to dig this thread up in 7 or 8 months... lol...
