Hello everyone, I'm a newb and I just purchased my first victory. I've always loved the victory style and finally picked up an 06 Vegas 8 ball.

I'm looking to lower the rear of the bike and have been reading online here about moving the wiring harness and shaving the belt guard. I've found kits online to lower anywhere from 1 to 3 inches. Does anyone have any experience with the 3" lowering kit. Also, has anyone made their own lowering kit? It seems like it would extremely simple, as the lowering kits are just a few pieces of steel. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Actually the lowering LINKS are only two pieces. Thats all you need to lower your bike.

Going down 3 inches? I haven't seen any lowering links that go down that far. The lowest links I've seen were 2 inches. Going 3 is pretty much air ride like what I have.

On top of CUTTING about an inch off of the belt guard you will need to shave/grind down the front bolt sleeve on the front pulley cover.

If you are a person of shorter stature - say under 5'7" and do not weigh more than like 175 then I'd say go for it. The guy that had my bike before me (the original owner) was near that size and was about 170 lbs. I'm 6'3" and weigh in at 285, so needless to say it was too low and and if I were to have adjusted the shock down enough, it would've essentially been a hard tail - lol. I bought stock suspension straps, put them on, moved the wire harness and all is good now. As mentioned - relocate the wire harness to the side!

P.S. just happen to have a set of lowering straps on hand if interested.

Thanks for the info. I'm 5'11" and 185, so I imagine I could do the 3". I rarely have a passenger, maybe once a year since my GF doesn't like to ride much. How much do you want for the lowering straps and how much do they drop the bike?

Any chance you'd be willing to get me a template of them, I should be able to make my own. After all, their a piece of steel with holes drilled in it. If not, I've got a few close friends that work in tool and die shops that could do a little after hours work if needed.

I would STRONGLY recommend NOT going down 3 inches. Bottoming out isn't your only problem. You have clearance of the frame and controls on turns, speed bumps etc.

I agree totally.....

These are not merely steel plates with holes drilled in them. They are machined aluminum with specific structural angles and recesses for the washers that go on each side. $50.00 will buy them. If you don't want them a guy at the local Victory shop here said he'd like to have them, so it's up to you! I'll ship them for free.

I believe they are for a 2" drop

Sorry, the lowering links are gone - snagged almost as soon as mentioned...
