...Polaris has also recalled 1,688 Victory motorcycles. The accessory backrest support can separate from 2006-11 Jackpots with backrests and 2004-11 Kingpins with double backrests, possibly causing the passenger to be injured or fall from the bike. Victory is notifying owners, and dealers are expected to begin replacing the seats on or before Aug. 30...
Other sources note that it is part number 2876641-01 and 2875961-01.
I assume this recall applies to anyone who bought this as an accessory. I can't remember these ever being fitted from the factory.
Of course, I have one- but have not had any issues like other folks.
It is removable- but not a lock-n-ride. You have to take the back four bolts off the passenger portion of the seat to get at the small bolt that holds the passenger backrest on (directly under the seat).
The driver's backrest that came with these was quick detach.
One article said late August for dealer contacting...
I'm interested as well ... began to watch the members of this a few years back, now I'm connected. I really dig most of the bands u listed, but on an irrational principle of posters just to show I was ... therefore, Gogol bordello is fascinating to me.
Can a picture of the backrests that are recalled be posted as I have checked the parts and all that comes up is the part and price no picture as I have a jackpot that with a backrest that came with the bike, I don't use it right now.
Ok Guys and Gals here is the straight scoop. I called Victory today about the seat recall. They told me "Yes there is a recall but we haven't sent it out yet" They said " the dealers will get a notice first and then I would be notified" Well they must work fast because when I got home today there was a safety Recall Notice in my mail box.It is Recall Campaign: 11V-346. The seats that are effected are The Jackpot Touring Seat with Backrest PN: 2875961-01 and the Kingpin Leather Touring Seat with Backrest PN: 2876641-01. The recall notice goes on to explain the problem and says that you should not ride with this seat .It says that Your Authorized Victory Dealer should start receiving the parts to make the repair AFTER 11/01/2011. They go on to tell you to contact your dealer after that date. I will be doing so. If you have any questions feel free to contact me

Hey Miker, since you offered...
I have a 2005 Kingpin but I'm not the original owner & I live in TX. My bike has a Mustang 2-up seat, but the passenger backrest appears NOT to Mustang (I think its Victory). Since you are in NJ and my bike supposedly came from NJ - Seaside or Oceanside Victory(?) (dealer no longer in business) - and you offered...
I got a letter from Victory HQ several weeks ago regarding this recall. The letter stated the dealers would begin replacement in Nov 2011, so I have some time and rarely carry a passenger. What I'm confused about is the photos Victory has in the recall letter do not show the same passenger backrest as mine. I called our local Victory dealer and they didn't even know about the recall and stated they had no info on it yet! I don't want to stress over this, but if my passenger backrest is defective, I want it replaced! I'm wondering why I got the letter containing serial numbers that apparently belong with my bike if I don't have the effected backrest? Did everyone within those model years get a recall notice or just certain ones? Why have they made this so confusing? It is possible that the original owner used a combination of Victory & Mustang seat parts to finish out the job. It just adds to the confusion for me. What's your take on this?
Called dealer on Friday 11/4/11. They have not received the parts from Vic yet, but are making a list. They will call when they have the parts to perform the fix.
Just received a notice in the mail recalling 2010-2014 VICTORY LOCK & RIDE BACKREST/LUGGAGE RACK.
The alert says to return your Passenger backrest/luggage rack to your dealer for new (up-graded) units. (Passenger backrests which have never had the luggage rack installed onto them are NOT affected.)
These units are only found on "Cross" bikes and Hard-Ball models.
I would like to know how to tell a old one from a new/improved one if buying used.
I bought a backrest from someone on this forum. It doesn't look like a backrest was ever attached to it. So my question is, if I want to put one on it, does the recall mean that I can't put one on now? Incidentally, I got three identical recall notices, all for the back rest.
i would go ahead and put it on and use it i use mine every day and when they start changeing them out next year have it replace with the new one just my 2ctw
