Installed the factory CB/ICOM radio system on my 2012 XCT a few weeks ago. ICOM works well, my wife and I enjoy having the intercom and having stock radio playing in headsets. I do not have anybody with a CB to talk to, so I haven't tried talking to anyone. We do hear other people taking on Ch 19 frequently.

The few times I pressed PTT I noticed radio display would go blank and return once I pressed any radio button, such as volume. While riding hm from work yesterday the CB was quite so I held down PTT for a minute or more. Screen went blank, other than Ch 19 and icon being displayed, and Ch 19 was highlighted to show it was transmitting. Once released PTT, display never did reset. I could turn radio volume up and down, hold minus down and turn radio on/off, press ICOM and COM buttons to turn them on and off. Everything worked except display continued to only show ICOM and CB with CB highlighted. No other information was displayed, and it remained this way for 20 minutes until I got home and cycled ignition key. ICOM and CB remained in display even when I had turned them off. Any ideas what is wrong the my system and why the screen is locking up?
I will plug in my wife's helmet tonight to see if PTT on passenger helmet screws up display.

Just plugged in passengers headset, the PTT on it's harness also causes the screen to go blank then it locks it with only COM and CB19 being displayed. Will not return to normal function until key is cycled off then back on.

Update:
Radio flash last Friday Nov 11th didn't solve the problem. Went riding this weekend with Goldwing riders from Brazoria County Blue Knights MC. My CB transmits, they could hear me fine. My CB receives, I could hear them fine.

THE PROBLEM: My screen goes completely blank when pressing PTT for less than 15 seconds, and will remain blank until I push any other audio button. LCD Screen will lock up and NOT return if I push PTT for longer than 15 seconds, and will remain locked until ignition power is cycled off. While LCD screen locked, I can change radio volume and radio channels, but can not see anything on LCD screen other than CB/ICOM display.

We need to find out if main radio needs to be replaced or if CB needs to be replaced. Either way, something is wrong with system.

Anybody else experience this problem &/or might know what the problem is and how to repair it?

I have a similar problem with mine, but it does not go completely blank and not return. I've never timed it to see how long I transmit, probably not long tho. I don't talk much while riding.

Since I listen to XM thru the AUX jack, I don't need that display so I've never worried about it.

I have noticed while riding 2 up, the display does not go out if Cheryl has her headset plugged in.

Let me know if you get an answer.

My dealer did submit a "Ask Polaris" today with my discribtion of problems to see what they have to say.

GOOD NEWS: I think my problem is fixed. Will know for sure after I ride to and from work tomorrow. CB Antenna Kit P/N 2877191. If it is installed like the directions say to, then it is a very easy fix. Pull rubber boot off fender washer, remove the Nylok nut with a 5/16" socket and remove fender washer. No further disassembly required. Get a nylon washer to place between fender washer and ring terminal. Nylon washer needs to isolate fender washer from ring terminal and where antenna cable is soldered to ring terminal. After installing a nylon washer, install fender washer, install Nylok nut and torque it to 25 inch pounds with a 5/16" socket. Push rubber boot back onto fender washer, now your finished and the CB should work properly.

I'm not going to tell my dealer what I did for a day or two or three. I want Polaris to put some thought into the problem. They should not be selling a 1,200 dollar system that doesn't work because it needs a .10 cent washer. I had read about this repair in the past, but those people couldn't transmit so I thought my problem was different since I could transmit. Turns out the grounding can cause several different problems. At least one of the people who made a repair with a nylon washer to fix his CB, sent all the information to Polaris a couple of years ago. Guess they didn't feel they had a problem that needed to be fixed.
