Hey Guys , with my new apes I lost my heat demons , I was thinking of going Victory heated grips as I do extensive cold weather riding . Anyone able to give me a quick review of performance / heat output on these ? Thank you .

I think these are identical to the factory installed heated grips standard on the XCT .....

Once installed they are pretty much married to the bars .... Plus the switch is bar mounted and wont fit the new bars .... I fear trying to fish the wires through the apes from one side to the other may be impossible anyway .

I think the Victory ones have external wiring and come with a switch that goes right into the dash , giving a professional look . I just wonder if they throw good heat , they should for 200.00 !!!

Yeah, I've used mine on my XCT. They put out decent heat -- mostly use them on the lower setting, because the higher setting is generally too hot.

That being said:

- I'm old and wimpy, so I don't do a ton of really cold weather riding.
- There may be better values out there, from other vendors -- the stock XCT ones are the first heated grips I've had (I've used heated gloves before), so I don't have any comparison experience.

The factory heated grips have high low settings and do produce good heat.
Vic all so has a switch to mount in your blank hole for on off.
There is Avon grips that produce good heat all so.
I would think with a bent coat hanger with a good hook on the end you could pull the Demons out.

Here are the heated-grip and heated-grip-overlay reviews from webBikeWorld, my main go-to site for reviews:

2005: Hot Grips: Hot Grips Heated Grips Review - webBikeWorld
2005: Oxford Hot Hands
2008: Oxford Hot Grips
2009: Koso Apollo Heated Grips

Notes:

- The webBikeWorld store on Amazon has a larger collection of grips and heated wraps, i.e., beyond those four reviews. See The wBW Amazon.com Store! - Heated Grips

- All of these are cheaper than the Vic grips.

- The dates on the left are the review dates, but some of these have user comments that are more recent.

- The Koso review is for 7/8" grips, but it mentions that they also come in 1" version.

- The Koso grips look really interesting, and now I'm considering buying them for my Burgman.

I don't think the Vic grips suck, they put out a lot of heat. My problem is, while they keep my palms nice and toasty, the tops of my hands still freeze.
So they layout good heat ? That's what I'm looking for .... I want them just so I'm not hanging on to two popsickles .... With some nice warm gloves the heated grips do the trick for me , thanks for your response !

I installed the Vic heated grips on my XR 3 years ago. I have to say this was the best money I've spent on the bike as far as usefulness goes! They plug right in to the existing wiring and give great heat. Not sure how the XC is set up, but on my XR, I got this little switch bracket from Vic that the switch pops into. it has 2 slots, so I used the other one for my LED running lights.

I enjoy mine, no complaints, other than the Hi being too hot for almost all situations.

The vision comes with them and I wanted a little fatter grip. So I slid some grip puppies over the heated grips and with thin gloves I can still feel the heat even with a deerskin glove can feel the heat. Love heated grips in the rain keeps my hands warm.

Toast

Definitely a toasty grip. My only complaint is that the switch from Ma Vic is not illuminated! Just gotta remember where it is and what level of heat you wanna select, real warm or Ow, Ow, Ow, Ow hot!! :grin

Only drawback to the OEM heated is the drilling of two mounting screws on left grip. Aside from that, great product.

Does anyone know if the wires are long enough for the Tarzanz bars? I don't want to modify 200.00 grips if possible .

I kinda liked the heated grips that came with my XCT, but as @CrashDavis stated, the insides of my hands would roast while the outsides would freeze. I swapped them out for Avon grips and I have a pair of heated gloves -- MUCH better in my opinion for getting even heat to the hands.
