Got around to checking the alignment of my new LED OEM light and man was it off, way off. I followed the instructions (measure height to center of light with me on bike, put tape on wall 3 inches lower than that, 25 feet away, shock pressure on for my weight which is 0). The cut off for my low beam was about 6 inches below the mark on the wall! I adjusted my light up as far as it allows and the low beam cut off is still about 1/2 inch lower than it should be. I know XC headlight adjustment is different than the XR's so I don't know if it is a bike specific thing or if my headlight is off from the factory buy a possible heads up for you XR guys.

That sucks.
Can you shim it a little to get it to where it needs to be?

I thought about that as well but I am not sure. I was thinking I could add some washers to the two front bolts that that hold the light in the bucket but that may cause an alignment problem with the back bolts. I haven't looked close enough at the bucket adjuster to see if I can shim it or not. Right now the light is close enough but it is just a reminder to all those putting in a new light to check that alignment.

@TNXR check that the little block inside the housing is moving. I had the same issue on my 2012 XR with the LED Headlight. I ended up discovering that the little presumably aluminum wedge block at the base of the housing had kind of seized. I popped it out with a screw driver and a mallet, polished it up and put a little grease in there just to keep it from seizing again. Its the block that the bolt head sits in inside the headlight housing.

Try that out.

Thanks a bunch Spawn! I will give it a try when I get in from work. I also have had a burning smell, kinda like brakes, during my ride yesterday. I am not sure what it is since I adjusted my belt and put in the LED headlight between rides so I need to get in the bucket again and make sure the light is not causing any melting problems.

Spawn, your the man. I got the block out and between the dirt, bugs, and oxidation of the block and the headlight housing that thing was stuck in there pretty good. Got it pried out, cleaned, scotchbrite pad, and some grease and now moves like it should. Waiting till I can some help to align the headlight again. On a side note, I still don't know were the burning smell is coming from. Headlight bucket was fine, belt is not too tight, no signs of oil or road grime on the engine or exhaust. I wondering now if it could possibly be my clutch?

Thanks Joe for the advise but have already checked that as well as making sure I didn't have any brakes that were binding. Went over the whole bike again looking for something that could have melted or fallen on the engine/exhaust but nothing. Been working long hours this week but hope to get the bike out this evening or tomorrow to see if the smell comes back. I don't have a lot of miles on the bike (11k) but the majority of my riding is in the twisties where I change gears quite a bit so that is why my mind was on the clutch.
