I had a cold ride home last night here in central Florida. I went to the gym at about 1:30 and was done about 3:30. I went to a nearby friend's house for a beer and then rode home (~25 min) from 5:30 to 5:55. This was right at dusk. At 5:30 when I left his house, it was 48°F and light out. By the time I got home, it was 45°F and pretty dark. I wore leather chaps, a bike jacket with liner, full-finger gloves, and turned the heated seat and grips on high. I was still a little chilly. It is supposed to be warmer today.

Warming back up here in central FL. After some cool days (highs in the 50's and lows in the lower 30's including a frost warning two days in a row.... oh, the humanity), it is supposed to be 75°F today and a high in the mid-80's the rest of the week. Great days to ride :)

I highly recommend wintering in Florida. While the riding is not that good (most roads are straight or close to straight and level, at least I can ride most days in the winter.

There is most definitely not a standard burial depth. It varies depending on the expected frost depth with an added safety margin. This is driven by codes that vary by state and maybe even by county or city for those states with widely varying winter climate zones (e.g. California).

82°F at 1:00 today when I finished golfing. A tad warm and the wind picked up on the last two holes. It was hell, I tells ya.... hell.

A real cold snap coming in tomorrow. When I tee off at 8:00 a.m. it is supposed to be a bone chilling 55°F and by the time I finish at noon, it is only supposed to be 65°F. This is just crazy. I might actually have to wear long pants.

Well, it was even worse today than I predicted in post #172. The high was only about 60°F while I was golfing. I had to keep my long pants on (I have zip off lower legs on the pants so they can convert into shorts). I was able to wear a short-sleeve shirt but on about hole #9, the wind picked up and I had to put on a light fleece for the rest of the round. Then on the second half of #17 and on #18, a cold very light rain fell. I was never cold but these were crazy bad conditions :) Somehow we survived it and I won $52.50 for one closest-to-pin and winning the overall out of the 24 person group with my score of 80 that included 3 birdies. If it does not warm up here darn soon, people are gonna get angry.

The rain is gone now and later this afternoon, I will have to wear chaps and a thick jacket when I ride to the gym. This is just INSANE weather. How can people live like this?

75°F here today. Supposed to reach 80°F tomorrow. Rode my bike to and from the gym is all. Unfortunately, I noticed the left fork leaking a little fluid. I will try to clean the seal first before changing them.

We all know that storms only had female names but is it true that now they have male names too ?
<snip>
If you are talking about hurricanes in the Atlantic, then the first male name assigned to an Atlantic hurricane was "Bob" but that occurred in 1979 so a looooonnnggg time ago.

High over 80°F here today and bright sunshine. Daytona Bike Week starts this coming Friday, March 5th. While I do not plan to attend (too crowded and busy for me), the entire middle of the state fills with bikes that week. Even here, ~75 miles or 1:40 hrs WSW of Daytona Beach, there will be lots of extra bikes running around that week.

A chilly 49°F here this morning and heating up to a max of ~69°F. Fortunately, it is bright sunshine all day long so golfing this afternoon will feel plenty warm.

No, not yet. We usually go to NC from mid April to mid-October. This year, we will not be going to NC until the end of April because my wife has a dragonboat training camp to attend here in FL. It is going to be bloody hot here in FL by the end of April when we leave. I will be whining about the heat for sure :)

A chilly 61°F when I left for golf but peaked at about 70° and bright sunshine. I only wish my golf game was as nice as the weather.

90°F here in central FL at 5:30 p.m. It was a scorcher today. I spent all day inside, fortunately. Supposed to be only a couple degrees cooler tomorrow and I golf at about 8:00 to noon. Gonna be a hot one.
