:mad: been waiting a while to test drive one ,, took out a brand new 2011 with 30 miles on it and at about mile 45 starting getting a loud clanking noise on left side of engine.. pull in the clutch it goes away... i went another couple miles and it was getting louder.. i pulled over to listen and it was bad,, I babied it back to the dealer,, by then the clutch was falling apart.... the dealer said "sounds like it needs an adjustment" i laughed my ass off cause for ht hour before I went all I heard of is how crappy harleys are and how great victory is bla bla,,, well needless to say,, i didn't buy the bike,,, i know being in the automotive field for 20 years everything breaks... but that was horrible,, esp since they were blaming the "break in oil" making the noise.... i told them it sounded to me like th clutch baskets was falling off and hitting the side cover,, oh i don't think so, the response was...


overall i loved the bike,, i may still look at another.. but i can't stand when a dealer craps on other brands,, pisses me off..

he mentioned you don't have to adjust the valves and primary one these state of the art bikes,,

when i told him you don't on mine either,, he argued with me till i pulled out my phone to google it for him...

this is the problem i have seen with victory dealers... they seem to talk out there butts... and really don't know squat about what they are up against...

idk.. just ranting ,, its sucked,,,,

Sorry to hear about that experience. I also hate it when all the dealer can do is talk down about brands---and that goes for anything you buy. I much prefer for them to just tell you facts about the product, and let the buyer make decisions without all of the negativity.

Its not just Vic dealers though. I've had Honda dealers talk smack about Kawi, HD dealer talking bad about everything non-HD, Toyota dealer putting down Nissan....the list goes on.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the XC. I have ridden 5 different ones with nary a problem. As for your dealer. Shame on him. If you are comfortable on a bike it will sell itself and needs nothing from the dealer except the facts. Just the facts sir!

You are probably right. I had that happen on a Ducati I owned once. There is a single nut that holds the basket in place and someone forgot to apply the Loctite at the factory before they fastened it on. A simple mistake, but one that cost Ducati about a grand in warranty parts and labor. But hey, that's what warranties are for, right?

I don't think that you're going to find that that is a common problem for owners unlike say twin cam bearings is for the owners of a certain competitive brand...

Noise is prolly from a wrong spring in the torque compensator. there are a couple of hundred out there that are surfacing. Vic does not use a special break in oil. Unfortunately many sales people will say anything that sounds good to them. That does not mean the service department is inadequate . If you have been in the auto industry for 20 years. You know salesmen are full of ****. Bummer of an experience for you

Do a thorough job researching not only the bike but the company which is building it thus backing it as well... I personally have found that Polaris/Victory has one of the worse dealer networks and service provider networks of almost all of the major brand bikes. I am sure that there are good ones out there, but overall I think NOT! The service and tech support is miles and years behind the actual serviceability of the bikes... typically the sales people, the techs, and the parts people know next to nothing about the bike... I have resigned myself to fixing the problems that have popped up on my Vision. Even the cruise control issue that I contacted probably one of the service people who give a hoot about their service and even he was not able to help me out. As mentioned, all makes and models have their problems so find the bike you like AND MAKE SURE THE DEALER WILL SUPPORT YOUR SERVICE NEEDS... if so it sounds like the dealer that you visited is not the place for you.

Actually I am waiting on the new Vison updated interface modual now. As soon as it is off BO; I will call you to set up repair. Left you a message to that effect over a week ago
