The Honda Rebel forum that motorcycle.com owns was friendly to me when I owned one 9 years ago. I'm sure it's still around. People mod those cheap bikes a lot. They are better than a scooter for a quick trip.
Yeah, I actually discovered when I rode it back home from the dealer for her that the Rebel 300 is much more fun to ride than I thought it would be. It's got a lot more pep and zip than I anticipated, and it's surprisingly smooth. Overall, I think it's a great bike for a beginner seeking confidence in their riding ability.

There are rumours of a 1100 cc version on the way, using the engine from the latest Africa Twin. Be nice to try it

Yeah, I'm watching that rumor mill. I'd be intrigued to try that one. Based on how much my partner likes the Rebel she's on now, that could very well be her path upward :)

Not that I'm starting an oil thread but this was just curiosity. Rotella T6 that was in motor over 5k miles. (Yes I know I need to ride more.) Changed fall 2018 and not again until spring 2020.
Can probably go 7-8k and still have a good TBN.

I do oil analysis every oil change on my truck after having engine repaired under warranty so this is nothing new just don't have a history yet for the Vic.

Rode to work, rode home. Stopped at restaurant and sat inside. Feels like 2019.

Changing focus a bit, does anyone know what changes they made to backrest design after the dealer recall of any backrest that had the factory luggage rack bolted to it?

3 holes to mount the luggage rack instead of two. Not really sure what other differences they have but I know they changed something with the design of the legs too.
