If I change the factory exhaust on the premium, is a new controller like the dynojet all I need? I looked on ebay and there are some exhausts including some victory stage 1 exhausts. Trouble is I am a long way from a dealer to get efi re-calibrated. If I could put a stage 1 or whatever on the bike, will a different controller be all I need. I know Lloyd's is an option also.

There is some topics for discussion on this if you do a search. Pro's and Con's when you change it out check your spark plugs for the right color. So if you have knocking or popping of the exhaust. These are all signs of a good burn or not. Each bike is a little different. To lean burns a piston so you need to check the mixture with the plug check or knocking sound.

Of coarse new exhaust port gaskets if your changing the head pipes.
Ride the bike if you wind up with popping disconnect the 02 sensors to make it run a little bit richer.
Put on a thousand miles and see what you think. You can all ways add a flash or tuner if you think you need it.
By the way a flash will add fuel and change your rpms not that much of a benfit is my thinking.

Yes, you'll need a tune. Most all good exhausts for the Vics have no baffles like the stock pipes (so you're running straight pipes) so you lose all backpressure. You will need a remap or better yet a dyno tune.

You will have to cut the frame for most available exhausts. Many people find this to be a project they're not comfortable doing themselves due to this.

Stage 1 is barely noticeable from stock. Too quiet for the money you're spending.

Remember this when it comes to sound on the Vic motors:

1) The SHORTER the pipe, the LOUDER they will be. Compare the Ness "Slashness" to the RPW Slash. RPW is considerably shorter and MUCH louder.

2) The larger the diameter of the pipe, the deeper and less raspy it will sound

3) The only performance upgrade will be with 2-into-1 pipes. The others cause you to lose a small amount of power and are only good for sound and looks.

4) If you want sound AND performance, plan on doing an air intake and a good tune at the same time.

Thanks Bandit. You have an SRT8 I assume from your name. What are you driving? I have a 2011 SRT8 Challenger inaugural edition of the 392. Also have an SRT10 Ram for when I need to haul.

Back to the bike now. You don't think the RPW slash pipes give much performance? I thought they were supposed to be ok. Are all the Victory stage 1 pipes no good? I like the looks of the x-bow. My Hammer S has a stage 1 set on it and it seems to be better than the Premium. Those factory pipes have small openings. I got to think they are killing some power.

Nice choices!!! 2010 SRT Challenger, B5 Blue. Didn't know at the time that the very next year was going to have the 392... :mad:

Had a well-modded SRT Magnum before that. 06, the first year of the Mag in that trim level.
