Hello! I purchased a 1999 V92c in late May. It was for a great price and had only 1,580 miles. The previous owner was declining in health and needed the money. He told me he would crank it up often but for health reasons he didn't ride it much. I couldn't pass it up for the price with all the extras. So i gladly paid and rode it home!

That was the best ride I ever had on it, 140 miles. I filled it up just before got home, got about a half mile from the gas station and it started to cut out on acceleration. So i sputtered the last 2 miles home. The next day i rode it around town for 10 mins with no problems, so i headed to work, got 2 miles from home and it died wouldn't restart, let it sit for 30 mins. and she started right up. So again I sputtered back home. Ended up replacing the fuel line filters, fuel lines, canister filter and having the fuel tank lined.

Got the fuel situation under control and got it tags on it. So this last weekend a couple of friends and I took our bikes on a cruise. Ended up being about 250 miles. Had a blast! But I kept hearing something the last 30 miles or so. In the last 8 miles it had a wobble after 45mph. So i took it easy and made it home.

So today I put it up on the jack and noticed metal shaving fall from the rear hub as i spun the wheel. After i took it all apart, I found that the right bearing has ate itself and the inner and outer spacer show alot of wear. All are replaceable for around $90. But the only thing is the hub appears to be damaged to. I haven't got the race out yet and i will know more when I do.

Have done some looking round for used rear wheel with minimal luck. Does anyone have any ideas, like what i could use for a substitute wheel or where to fine a replacement?

You're right though, there aren't a lot that show up. I'm not sure but I think 1999-2002 all had the same wheel. We've got some guys that should chime in who will know exactly what wheels will fit your bike.

While it's down anyway, you should go through it from end to end and top to bottom. Check every fastener and clean, lube, and adjust every pivot point and bearing on it. That machine has done a lot of sitting. It would probably be good to clean the throttle bodies too.

Pinwall cycle part has a lot of early Vic parts. Say take your bearing and go to local bearing store then can match you up with race and bearing for a better price then what Vic will sell it to you

Whats that noise -wheel bearing update

So I took the wheel to a buddies house and got the other race out. Called the Vic Shop to see if he would have a any matching wheels (he didn,t) and advice on what I could do, he suggested a conversion kit that he sold, I could also take/send it to him and have the shop he has alot of his repair work done at or to take it to a shop a have it welded and remilled.

So I order OEM replacement parts from 2wheelpros.com and I called a machine shop that I have used in the past. The owner if it didnt seen to think that the job would be a problem. Went ahead and bought a set of bearings for the front, gonna avoid this problem in the future.

Creek_IP: Thank you for your reply I have went through and adjust and clean most of it now. I don't know anything about cleaning the throttle bodies. Will do some research on how. I don't mind trying if I can find out how!?

karmobRob: Thanks for the suggestion and I definatly plan on doing this before its back on the road.

I will keep ya all up to date on whats going on as it nears completion!

Looks like I got some catching up to do. The machine shop charged me $35 to put the wheel on the lathe, Slightly mill it out, replace the inner bushing and seat the new bearings. After 3 hrs of cussin and fussin I got it all back together.
Had been running like a champ. Have been having some issues with the fuel milage but i will get into that at another time.
At about 2,700 miles on a return ride home from work, I felt a odd vibration in the front. Without hestitation I put the bike on the jack when I got home. After I torn down the front end, I found the front bearings where going out. Got them replaced without a stop at the machine shop this time!

Sounds like you got the typical things that go wrong with a bike that ha been sitting under control. Check the date codes on your tires to see how old they are. They recommend no more than 6 yrs. Though some ride them older. If they are older keep their age in mind when you think you want to go fast. Save the land speed runs for new rubber.

Also check carefully any rubber plugs or caps for signs of cracking.
I'm not familiar at all with your bike but typically rubber vacuum caps and some emission hoses have issues when left to set idle that fuel lines etc don't seem to have.

Just a thought. I'd give everything the once over with a flashlight and replace anything that is cracked and falling off you don't need any air leaks messing things up.

If it has spoke wheels and you change the tires don't forget to order the rim liners and new tubes at the same time.cheerscheers
