I have found that if you don't plan a trip way in advance and put it on the calendar.....often it just does not happen.

I'll start.

March: a trip thru Death Valley area and south.

March: a trip along the Klamath river in S. OR.

April: Ride to San Luis Osbispo and the coast/mountain in the area

April: Ride to Lassen State Park area

June: Ride to San Diego - 395 south, to 15 south thru the coastal mountains (Julian etc) and back up the coast rt 1 and 101.

All these trips are 3-6 nights long. Hope to add more soon! I'm happiest on the road - there is just nothin' better..:devil

Where are you riding? Get it written down!

Don't have any big trips planned on the bike but do plan on flying out to Glacier NP and doing a week of camping/hiking. My better half and I will take a few small trips. She has never been on the Cherohala skyway so will spend a few days down there and probably hit the Dragon the 100th time. Plan on taking a week with a couple of buddys and riding across VA to the eastern shore in the early summer.

Southern Cruisers Riding Club is holding their nat'l rally in Coarsegold, CA June 2-5 at the Chuckchansi Casino and I'll be there. After the rally, I'm gonna meander back north and grab Sierra Passes and Hwy.36, to name a couple.
Then there's the Hells Canyon and Pendleton rallys, plus many, many local and regional rides. Ain't retirement wonderful?

Funny you should bring this up Donzo...Today I finished the route for a group ride I have been putting together for June.

We have five bikes going at this point. Over 4 days we are headed across northern PA, though some of the national forests to Lake Erie, up the coast to Niagara Falls, then back across upstate NY and the Adirondacks.

I hope to do at least one more long trip(maybe Florida by way of the Blue Ridge Pwk and Skyline) and a couple of extended weekend rides but nothing planned for these yet.

I'm the organizer for "Kruis'n the Kootenays" rally sponsored by another forum I belong to. This is held this year in Castlegar, BC Canada. As of today we have over 35 riders, many of whom are double-up.

After that we'll head to Lake Louise and then up the Icefields Hwy to Jasper, over to Prince George and back to Vancouver by the 16th.

Aug 11-13
Wife and I are heading to Desolation Sound Resort to celebrate our 10th anniversary.

What part of NorCal is your neck of the woods? If you do the Calif. section of the Klamath River you'll likely pass through my neck of the woods.

My summer ride plan is: Crater Lake --> north to Sisters area to check out the volcanic rock mountains --> north to Columbia River --> cross the river to check out the WWI memorial that was built as a scaled down version of Stonehenge. I was at the real Stonehenge two years ago. Need a photo-op of the reduced size one to go with the full size one. Then, the old highway west along the Oregon side of the river --> Mt. St. Helens --> then south towards home. The homeward bound route - coast or interior - is to be determined when the time comes.

All our rides will start in central Michigan and will be me and the wife on separate bikes.

Late May = VTX tech session in Marysville, OH
Mid-June = VTX East Coast Gathering in Fredericksburg, VA (2 days outbound, 2 days at the event, 2 days return trip)
Mid-July = West Virginia ride - (2 days outbound, 2 days at the event, 2 days return trip)

so a pretty uneventful summer planned.

G'day,

Vinish

Cherahola is a nice ride. The route around the Fontana Dam area too. The Dragon? Nope done with that. Last year I was at the lower starting point restaurant there. Started up the dragon going north and made it as far as the first pair of corner's and some @#$% in a semi is coming around the corner and I have NO
WHERE to go. So until Tn enforces the law of NO TRUCKS I'm done. It is an extremely dangerous road due to others more so than me.

There are so many great roads, some better than the Dragon I think, in the mountains of north Georgia. Fewer to no cars and bikes and cops. Frankly, I don't know what the attraction for the Dragon is, other than the street creds. I've done it and wasn't as impressed as I am with other roads in the area.

If you look at my sig then you will see I am from the area and know the roads in TN,NC,VA,KY,WV better than most on here. Of course the Dragon sucks to ride on but I hit it at least once a year. If you want scary then take a ride with me up through SWVA into KY and dodge coal and logging trucks in every curve, fun stuff! The Dragon is not made for motorcycles only and IMO should not be shut down to other vehicles.

I'm doing a solo run from Southern Maryland to Hendersonville, TN in early April. Doing the entire ride to avoid highways. I think I'll work the Cherohala Skyway in on that trip.

Doing another run from Southern Maryland to Maggie Valley, NC and Pigeon Forge, TN in June. Will be with the wife and a buddy and his bride on this one.

I'll be in your area in early April. What sort of weather is typical for that time of year?
