Anyone know where the fuse is located for the cigarette-lighter style socket on the dash of XC/XCTs? I have the shop manual, but I'm still at a loss.

There's a reference in the manual for a strange place for the fuse for the "Accessory Outlet" for the lower fairing, but nothing that says "Accessory" regarding the dash outlet. I'm pretty sure I mistakenly blew that fuse in doing some preliminary farkling work, but I just checked all six fuses -- three normal ones, and three really tall ones -- in the main fuse panel under the right side cover, and everything seems fine there.

A little help here, before I have to start tearing even more of the bike apart, back-tracing wires, etc. Thanks.

Just down and left of the fuse box next to the rubber grommet for the side cover is a blue plug, unplug that and there is fuse in there, check that. GOOD LUCK

Highoctane, to the point:

1) Yes, that was it. Thank you, I owe you a cold one and a lunch, next time I'm in Iowa.

2) That was intuitively obvious... not! How'd you happen to know that.

3) Incidentally, the manual is correct, in that the lower pod outlet has its own wierdly located fuse. That is, the pod outlet still worked, regardless of the dash outlet.

4) If anyone's interested, the trunk outlet on an XCT is controlled by that same blue-plug dash-outlet fuse. That is, before replacing the fuse, I checked the trunk outlet, and that was out, too (and cured by replacing that dash fuse).

5) In case anyone's interested in a mild tale of stupidity, I went to hook up something (which will draw almost no current) today, to "Y" sort of connectors that I had built last week out of the hot and return leads going to the dash outlet. Didn't work, and a multimeter revealed that there was no juice. Then, puzzling over this, I recalled that when I was building my Y splice thingees last week, I just snipped the two leads going to the dash outlet, a foot or so away from it. Putting that together with knowledge that the outlets are always hot on the bike, I realized that a week or so ago I casually snipped through a live pair of wires; hey, didn't see any sparks, but, d'oh!, easy way to blow a fuse.
