Hi All,

I'm in need of a new windscreen for my 2012 CCT and the parts descriptions of the "Premium Tour Windscreen" and the "Tall Windscreen" on the victorymotorcycles.com Web site are ridiculous.

The "Premium Tour Windscreen" for $250.00 is described as, "3” taller than the stock windscreen". Well how tall IS that? The "Tall Windscreen" for the eye-popping price of $325.00 "rises taller than the previous Tall Windshield...". How is this helpful?

My CCT came with a windscreen that is 18" from the middle of the cutout to the top. Do I have the "Tall Windscreen" or the "Premium Tour Windscreen"?

Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks. :)

Factory windscreen on my XC is 9". Aiming to have the top of the screen even with your nose for good wind coverage is the advice I got. Higher if you ride in the rain frequently, lower if you want a little more wind in your face when your shield is open. I went high for coverage & missed the breeze, so I have a couple :)
For your XCT, you probably want more coverage. Do you want it 21" tall?
18" seems huge already.
The online info from Victory is incomplete, but if you look in their catalog, they'll usually list the actual size as well as the 3"+ sales pitch.

Thank you! I bought one of the 10" Airstream tinted windscreens and though it looks really good, it's just too much wind in my face. So if the stock windscreen is 9", that makes the Premium Tour windscreen 12", since it's claimed to be 3" taller than the stock screen. So how tall does that make the "Tall Windscreen" I wonder? 15"? 18"?

As quoted from the description in my initial post, the Tall Windscreen "rises taller than the previous Tall Windshield..." which is of no help to the customer whatsoever unless someone already owns one and posts the information online. Just SMH

All that aside, thank you for your quick reply. It's at least a starting point I didn't really have before.

I am 6' tall. Have a klockwerks flare that's 11". Looks cool, and fine for commute, doesnt make me feel like I'm breathing in a vacuum, but too much wind for much if a road trip. I was fine on a windy 300mi a couple weeks ago, but wife was not comfortable at all. Picked up a windvest 12.25" 'tall' & that is better for just me, but thinking about building custom mount brackets to lift & separate (forward of fairing) - the slot is smaller than vic ones, and I could use it ~13" - I'll raise it an inch & forward 3/4" to give me a little more to breathe & still kick most of it over my helmet. I ordered a taller Vic one for 2-up trips, buy hadn't arrived when I left town last Wed, so will have to give my 2c (and screen model info / part #) after I test it. Think it's 14" for normal 2-hole XC brackets.

Just to cover the bases, in case you're new to all of this, i.e., I don't mean to insult you.

The CCTs come stock with what I believe is Vic's tallest windshield. To make that stable, they also come with a bracket to support it. The bracket has four screws to mount to the bike, and then, as I recall, six screws to mount the windshield to the bracket. So, if you have these extra brackets, you probably have the extra tall windshield that Vic started selling with the CCTs.

OTOH, if the windshield you have on now is mounted directly to the bike -- no brackets -- with four screws, then you don't have that super tall one. Did you get the bike used?

And how tall are you, and do you have an unusually tall or short upper torso? And do you like to look through or over a windshield.

I'm average height -- 5'9", 29"-30" inseam, all sort of normalish. I had a KlockWerks Flare for the first year. That looks nice, and worked well. But if you're much shorter than me, you'll wind up looking through the curved upper lip, air-deflector, part; it's not optically clear up there, not meant for looking through. If you're much taller than me, the KW Flare will result in buffeting -- I had a tall friend ride my bike.

I have an 11" Madstad shield and brackets now. The Madstad system does a fine job of calming the air, it's adjustable, and the shields come in several sizes. But a lot of folks think the brackets look fugly.

Last, there are are more than half a dozen vendors of out there -- Gustafsson, Cee Bailey, 7Jurock, Clearview, etc. -- with lots of sizes and types. Remember, once you take the brackets off a CCT, you just shop for plain old XC windshields, because that's what you have once the brackets are gone.
