There are so many questions about windshields and buffeting, I thought I would share my experience. This is the mid sized shield from VStream and measures about 10.5 inches (in the typical Vic measurement style). It does however close up the opening below the shield some so it only sits about 2.5 inches higher than the stock XC shield not the full 3.5 inches you may think. I am 5'10" and have a 32" inseam so you get an idea of height. The shield does a great job getting the wind up over my head. The air hits just at the top vent of my full face helmet which is perfect for airflow. It also keeps the bugs from hitting my face shield. I look well over the shield when riding but it is very clear for a shorter rider who might look through. The material is very thick and appears strong. Overall fit and finish are great. I also think the design compliments the bike well. I rode 1100 miles this past weekend both with and without soft lowers and buffeting from air over the fairing was non-existent. I got some from under the fairing but the shield has no bearing on that. Overall very happy and a great buy.

I run the next size up with the Madstad brackets and I'm happy with it too. It does compliment the bike.

I have several shields and use them and various times but I find this one to be the best over all of the ones I have. Always open to trying others though...

Tried the 10.5" for a while, then moved up to the next size up.. Great windshields.. Wish all windshields were made to NC standards..

I'm very happy that I chose the VStream shield. You are absolutely right, their design is spot on .... I haven't seen anything else that comes close to matching the lines of the fairing.

In hindsight I should have gone with the mid height shield too to get the airflow a bit higher and over my helmet, but to quote a good friend,

Fashion over Function

Do you have a picture of it mounted on the Madstad Brackets? I need to replace my Klock werks due to looking through the flip is annoying.

I've been thinking about painting the lower half black to hide all the brackets and uprights holding the shield on. Make it arc at the top of where the paint stops to help it also give it a more custom look. Probably be one of my projects this Fall. It's an easy one.

Do you think the V-Stream is better than the Madstad windshields? Have you tried the Madstad? Acrylic or Polycarbonate, which is better? You can read both companies info and get different answers.

Being 5' 7", with a 30" inseam (on a good day), I would probably go with the 9" madstad, but I am not sure on the V-Stream. I know that mounting it on the brackets raises it a little, that is where I am running into trouble with my flip now. If the V-Stream is 8.25" but doesn't have the big opening on the bottom, is it more like a 7"? Is the 10.25" more like a 9"?
