Alright I have my amp sitting at the house and ill be putting it in when I get home on the 27th. Actually ill probably be getting some quality time with the wife on the 27th, ill be putting it in on the 28th. My question is has anyone ever put a lightning cap (capacitor) in the fairing on an XC? I have an extra .5 farad sitting in my closet at the house, and im putting in the Soundstream PN4.1000D (140 rms per channel @ 4 ohms) so im not sure how power-hungry this amp will be. I do have a brand new battery, and it lives on a tender, just trying to get some educated/experienced opinions.

My next question is more curiosity than anything else. I have the polk audio 5.25s mounted in the lower fairing (used a shower drain for a grille template), and kicker 6s mounted in the factory locations. I bought a set of Power Acoustic tweeters (rated at 200 watts) and im thinking about putting them in too. If you were me would you try and mount them in the factory grills, or would you go behind the grill since they aren’t waterproof (I don’t ride in the rain if I can help it). I have a decent idea to keep the amp dry (I think/hope). Also would you hook them in before the amp, or hook them in amplified? Im wondering what it would throw the ohm load to. The amp is supposed to be 2ohm stable, but im not sure how its going to do running one side at one ohm load, and the other at another. I wonder how long its going to take me to upgrade the speakers to 4 polk 6.5s (don’t tell me about ARC audio and Hertz, I know they’re awesome, but I will jam a razorblade in my urethra before I spend $400 on two speakers for my motorcycle).

I'm running that same amp. No need for a capacitor. I'm running 2 Hertz 6.5 in the fairing and 2 Polk Marine 651UM in the bags with no problem. I've blown out 2 set of mm651 2 ohm speakers that's the reason for going with the Hertz and they sound awesome. Yes the amp is 2ohm stable and I would not try to run it at 1 ohm load.I don't think you will be happy with the Kicker or Polk and will upgrade down the road. Just a note that amp kicks ass. You will be better off to get speakers that can handle the power. I know they are expensive but you pay for what you get. JL, Hertz, Arc, Focal, Audison. The sound quality is totally different. I've tried all sort of speakers. I hope this helps.
