Does anyone have the parts list or installation instructions for a XC lock and ride back rest? I'm not sure if mine is missing some parts or lacking the correct parts. From what I'm reading in the accessory catalog Vic claims the lock and ride can be removed in 15 seconds without tools. The hardware my bike came with requires tools to remove the backrest.

It does not require tools if you do not put the security bolts in. If you install the security bolts then they will have to be removed before you can take the backrest off. I usually put mine backrest back on when the weather warms up and install the security bolts and leave the backrest on till it gets to cold for the better half to ride.

That's correct. It does not require tools unless you install the security bolts. For that, I pop my bags off to install the single bolt on each side. Remember....if you can pop it off in 15 seconds......so can someone else....and they are expensive. I think they are 6 mm hex bolts. Without the security bolt installed, just fit the slotted end onto the connector, push down, then push the connection levers down. It truly does only take 15 seconds.

I can do it in 6 sec's. I pitty the fool that steels my backrest.

Are the recall units out yet? Anyone know the differences? I have not had any problems with mine nor do I think I ever will.

So the forward bolts and nyloc nuts on each side must be removed allowing the latch lever to pivot to be quick release? That's all there is to it?

That's all there is to it and at nearly $500 for the backrest I choose to keep the security bolts on it. As mentioned, you have to take the bags off to get the security bolts off/on.

Thanks for the replies. I thought maybe I was missing a quick release fastener or something. It looks like it's all there.
