I need advice/help from those who have installed (or are knowledgeable with) Vicbaggers lower bag fillers. Purchase from Witchdoctors gloss black upper and lower bag fillers set. My issue is trying to mount lower bag fillers on 2016 Cross Country Tour and retain use of tour pack. I have watched both Witchdoctor videos (upper and lower install) and looked at photos online. I believe the top of the lower filler is to go over the bottom of the upper filler. The top "line" of the lower filler should somewhat line up with the inside bottom edge of the lid, and the bottom of the lower filler should somewhat line up with the bottom of the fender and bottom of the bag. I've read that some have had to trim the lower part of the lower filler and it looks like I will need to do the same so the lower filler sits more down in between the bag and fender. My main frustration is that the tour pack locking handle hits the top of the lower filler, in almost any somewhat decent looking position. This is where I need help and pics of installs with Victory tour packs or passenger backrests. If you can get a close pic I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for your time. I believe I have attached a couple pics (edges taped to protect paint) with left side showing tour pack lock interference and two pics of right side trail fitting upper and lower set differently. Bringing my lower out over the upper still wont clear unless the lower is way to far out and leaves a bad gap.

1st pic is with lock partially engaged at its furthest reach point, which is holding the bag filler out away from the bag by 1/2 in. The pic with the filler under the lock prevents the pack lock from being full down in locked position.

Chuck it was tough to get a decent picture, but my lower bag filler is positioned so the backrest locking lever misses it when depressed by about 1/4". It does make it tough to squeeze a finger in there to release the latch but the fillers looks good and line up nicely. The bottom of the filler is up from being in line from the bag bottom. Moving them "in or out" also changes the relationship to the locking lever, if that makes sense. IMG_0415.jpg

Is it possible that you could trim or remove the rubber handle on the mount lever to give you clearance by the filler?

Kodiakwood2, thank you for the pictures with positioning detail. I've moved the top of the filler "in and out" a bit, both trying to have the filler far enough down under the locking handle as well as out far enough the to be above the handle, but something was not right. I'm sure there is some position were it should work, as you and many others were able to. I'll use close ups of your pic when I try again later today, and apply what you said about the bottom alignment. Thank you again.

Is it possible that you could trim or remove the rubber handle on the mount lever to give you clearance by the filler?


Pain, I did try just pulling the rubber off the handle, with a little (but not much) force, but it didn't move. I might later get a passenger backrest too, and I might have clearance issues there, so for now I've held off on messing with the handle hoping it is just an alignment issue. Good suggestion though. I might do it. I also thought about reshaping the filler piece, but then that would change the bag lid alignment.

Don't forget that the rubber on the moving end of the locking handle "snaps" into a metal groove to hold the locking handle down. If you move the rubber on the moving handle, it might not lock down into place any longer.

I had not noticed that @Vinish. Good call. I guess I could always use the Allen head bolts to rely on locking, which I have always done so far. But I was considering leaving the Allen bolts next time...

Well after proceeding cautiously and slowly, over a couple short broken sessions, I've installed the bag fillers/fender close-outs. I was not impressed with the condition they arrived to begin with (I decided not to return nor contacted seller as I really wanted to get them on so I will leave that be). The gloss black paint was not very smooth and exhibited quite a bit of orange peel. As a fitment review they don't close the bag gap or fender gap (top filler) as I expected them to. My tour pack latch barely fits by the upper part of the lower filler if the latch is pulled and bent to the outside. I set the uppers about 10mm 'up' perpendicular from the lowers instead of almost on top. I did line up the bottom of the lower filler with the bottom edge of the rear fender (up maybe 1/8") to put the lowers further toward the rear to provide more trunk latch room.
I did not install the upper most bolt for the brake side lower filler due to lack of room to get any device up in the rear fender enough to hold a nut between fender and ABS unit.

I installed a paint protection film over the fillers as I foresee, at least for the removable upper fillers, a lot of potential handling scratches. This film actually improved the finish and hid some of the issues.
The upper filler will not just drop between a loose bag and seat if a tour seat (wide passenger area) is used. The bags will have to be tilted out by several inches.
I installed about an inch long piece of black automotive door guard along the outer bottom of the lower fillers were the bags may rub while removing/installing.

For those contemplating these, take a real close look along the filler edges for gap sizing.

I intend to post better pics later.

Careful with that paint protection filler. It makes it much more difficult to lock the mounting pins. I lost a bag on a slow speed turn first time out. Went to bolts after that and removed the protectors.

I'm not sure what you mean by filler... my 2016 XCT came with bolts instead of 1/4 turn bag retaining clips. The paint protection film I applied was only to the tops of the bag filler pieces and not between where they are against the fender or bag.

Man I would be hot if I lost a bag. I feel for ya.

Mine was a few years ago. No bolts supplied by Witchdoctors. I used clear door edge protectors between the filler and the fender. Lesson learned.
