I know there has been some discussion regarding the new Star Venture, and that is a slick bike but I'm not a full-on touring loadout sort of guy. I don't want a trunk or cupholders or a stereo.

But I sat on a Star Eluder, which is the same bike with no trunk and slightly less "stuff" and man...

There was some serious temptation there. I dig the styling, the lines. The front end looks like something you'd find belonging to Batman. It had good balance, very comfortable seating position. but man, was it a beast.

I was telling the wife about it and got "the look," which as we all know she was preparing and executive veto in case I suggested something. She has nothing to worry about for the time being, and to be honest I think I'd rather have a sport tourer for my next bike. But dang, guys....it's a sharp scoot.

I’d seriously give it some consideration when it comes time to replace the XCT. But I have many more years yet.

My thoughts exactly. Barring any bad decisions on my part, my XR has a long way to go before it "needs" to be replaced. Riding a defunct brand poses its challenges, but Vics are built so well, i expect it would be some time before parts availability becomes an issue.

I think I was most excited about the idea that a solid heavy cruiser/bagger that I liked to look at was being produced. It almost wouldn't be a compromise for me at all to choose that bike, depending on how it rides of course. I'm very impressed with it.

TBH, the Beemer K1600B might be better suited to my riding style...like I really need 160 hp :crzy:

If the new Yami was on the showroom floor back in `14 I'd be on it. I took a leap of faith with a twenty year old motorcycle brand. Figured they had been in the market long enough to hang on for the long run. I figured wrong. Expenditure wise, I'm getting a bit long in the tooth to be considering another new big dollar heavy cruiser. The ride and the curbside appeal of the XCT still has me grinning like a Cheshire cat and still makes my heart skip a beat at times, so it will serve me well for a couple more years. I do like the looks and specs of the new Yamaha. If I was ten years younger I'd be having a serious talk with myself.

Don't think they will sell well. Too heavy, plain paint plus Honda has added the new Wing to the mix. I'm willing to bet Yamaha will have some heavy rebates on left overs come the end of riding season, especially considering the slow growth in the heavy cruiser market or in the case of HD negative growth.

Sure the paint is a little plain but everyone that rides the new yam has great things to say. The bike is absolutely loaded with every convenience imaginable including reverse and has a ton of accessible storage space (36 gal's) and large tank 6.6 gal's. The new goldwing will have a ton of buyers based on reputation alone and most buyers will be return customers. I believe the Yam on the other hand will have more buyers coming from other manufacturers not unlike the ones abandoned by Polaris.

Early reports are that it is a real "cooker" but unlike HD which fries your right thigh, the big Yamaha does a good job on the left thigh. I don't know about others but if I were to spend the better part of $30,000 it better "pop" and to me they just look plain and plasticy. Big blob of red or blue or grey. No pinstriping, two tone just plain. It does have gadgets, I'll give you that.

Ive sat on the new Wing and its awful, If your tall (over 6'2) you want like how close your knees come to the front fairing, no floorboards and the storage space is even less than my Vision. The only thing the new wing has going for it is they finally redesigned the front suspension.
