Soooooo, I take my wife for a nice long ride today; you know, lunch antique browsing and motorcycle shops were on the route. Any who, at the last stop I noticed her walking with a limp, but nothing was wrong with her. You all know what happened, don't you! Yep, she had left almost the entire heel of her boot on the exhaust pipe. Now, the question is: how do I get the melted leather off the pipe?

Some have had luck with easy off oven cleaner. Since it takes a certain type and I didn't want to take chances I used a penny instead. Copper won't scratch the chrome so try sharpening the edge of a penny and using it as a scraper.
Ive used fine steel wool twice on mine to get melted boot rubber off. Worked very fast and i didn't notice any residual scratches from the wool...

Go to your local HD dealer, yep them other guys, they carry a cleaner specifically made for melted boots. There is no such thing as a stock HD that does not need it.
