Yes...I've done the research! But everyone here knows as well as I do that all the research in the world is NOT the same as seeing it and feeling a part, mod, or paint job in person.
I'm 5'7" tall. I have for my past few bikes looked THROUGH the windshield. This bike, a 2012 White Cross Country Tour has the TALL Premium Windshield...but a couple of times I have been caught in a fog and I could not get high enough to see over the windshield to see.
I LIKE looking through the windshield. That's where I want to be...I ONLY want to look over the shield when I absolutely have to be looking over!
Here's what I know (or at least what I think I know).
Madstad - New, Innovative and very functional. But the looks (although they have improved...the shields still look like they don't belong on the bike. Getting POSITIVE reviews does help here. If you have this windshield...what do you think. Also TELL ME SOMETHING BAD about this product!!
Vstream - Their tallest shield is only 12.25" from center to top...I'm afraid that will be too short, and I will be looking over the shield ALL THE TIME...which I don't want to do. They look good, and the BIGGEST plus for this shield is that it is Polycarbonate (why in the HELL aren't all shield Polycarbonate?). If you have a Vstream...let me hear from you. Also TELL ME SOMETHING BAD about this product!!
Cee Bailey's - Stock replacement. I can get the same shield as I have now at any height. I have two problems with the Cee Bailey's shield...First, the area where the bolts go is clear...in other words the shields are ugly and look like all they are is a piece of plastic. Secondly, the shield is acrylic. (see comment above about Polycarbonate). Also TELL ME SOMETHING BAD about this product!!
If you have any of these shields...also let us know how the install went, and what problems (if any) you had installing it.
Thanks.
Wally
