I have a cross Roads and did not like the stock shield - I got lots of buffeting and at 70 and over, my head would vibrate from the choppy wind.
I got the CB large windshield with built in lowers. I received the shield 10 days after ordering (with free shipping) and the packaging was very good - protected the shield and was easy to unpack.
I had heard that some folks had problems with the holes not lining up with the hardwear - I found the shield to be PERFECT - all the holes and the shape of the shield lined up great! There is a trick to getting all the bolts, spacers, rubber and metal washers and nuts to come together - If anyone is getting the shield I will be happy to tell you how I did it.

The shield is very clear and free of distortion even along the edges. I think the shield looks good on the bike also - I was concerned that it would look big - but it does not. It is 3 inches taller, an inch wider and several inches lower than the stock shield.
How is the ride with the CB? In a word "awesome!". The buffeting is gone at all speeds - my helmet is no longer getting slapped by wind. I no longer need to wear ear plugs to keep my ears from ringing from all the wind noise. Cruising on the highway is so much more enjoyable now!
If you have buffeting and noise issues on you XR - get the CB with the lowers.....you will be glad you did! cheers

I agree, I got the tallest one they (Cee Baileys) make with the built in lowers and its much better than the stock one. I found that with the stock shield most of the buffeting was coming up from below so go for the built in lowers. I also wear a full face helmet and by putting my hand directly below the chin bar i was able to greatly reduce the noise from the stock shield. This is the noise the built lowers reduces.

I agree the lowers really help. I have the Vic lowers also, but the stock shield tapered in before the lowers and this is where alot of the wind came up to the helmet area. The CB shield stays wide all the way down to the lowers that are mounted on the forks - great combo! I took a four hour freeway ride yesterday and was very comfortable and no ringing ears todaycheers

How about some pictures with the new windshield. Also how much did it run you if you don't mind saying. I have been considering something else on my CrossRoads but I figured I would give the stock windshield a fair shot since the bike is new.

I will post some pics later today - I had the stock shield for 15,000 miles - it's tolerable and at some speeds good - the CB makes the ride quiet and more relaxing imo.

THe CB shield was just under $200 shipped - they do give a forum discount also.

Almost forgot, the Cee Baily windshield for the Cross Roads with the built lowers will not work with the forged highway bars. You must have the tube type bars if I remember correctly.

Thanks Donzo. I will keep this in mind. Maybe a few months I'll go for it. Christmas and all I will have to wait awhile. I was also considering the Memphis Shades Bat wing fairing. I would like to know what people think of those after having them for a few miles.

I had the MS batwing on a Honda Shadow Sabre I owned - I put the 12 inch shield on and the wind protection was excellent - but, you will have to paint it to make it look like it belongs on the Cross Road.
I personally like the added visibility a clear shield offers - esp when trying to avoid tar snakes which are numerous in my riding area. The cost is similar for the fairing and the CB shield - but an extra $70 or so for the shield you need to add to the wing -

Man, CB should give me some commissions, I feel like a salesman!
